Example of creation of a document with several sections |

Assume it is required to create a text document consisting of several sections: a cover page, solid text, illustration, and a revision record sheet. The illustration should be made on an A3 sheet, the other sections – on A4 sheets. Step-by-step instructions on this are as follows.
1.Create a new text document in KOMPAS-3D.
The document is displayed on the screen without detailing, i.e. without marquee and the title block.
The new document contains one section — it is displayed in the Document Tree as Section 1.
2.Rename the section in the Tree: instead of Section 1 to Main text.
3.Fill out 2-3 pages of the document with text.
In process of text entry, new sheets are added into the section.
4.Invoke the Display Formatting
command, or click the corresponding button on the Tool Area.
Display of the document will change: on the screen, an image of the marquee and the title block will appear. Note that the title block of the first sheet differs from the title block of subsequent sheets – that conforms to the default setup of the document detailing.
5.Add new sections to the beginning and end of the document.
5.1. Select the Main Text section in the Document Tree.
5.2. From the context menu of the selected section fetch the Add section before command.
5.3. Again, select the section in the Tree Main text.
5.4. From the context menu fetch the Add section after command.
New sections contain one sheet each and have the same parameters as the first section.
6.Assign to the first section the Title Page detailing. GOST R 2.105-2019.
6.1. Invoke the Detailing Parameters... command from the context menu of the section in the Document tree.
6.2. In the detailing selection dialog that appears, enable the Uniform detailing option. In the dialog window, one group of detailing selection remains, which consists of the Library and Name fields.
6.3. Click the Selection
button to the right of the Name field.
6.4. In the opened dialog with a list of layouts, select the Title page line. GOST R 2.105-2019 and clickOK.

In the Cover page and Revision record sheet layouts, tables take up the whole sheet space. It is possible to apply such detailing only to the empty section, i.e. to the section in which there is not a single row yet. |
6.5. Close the dialog for setting up the detailing of the section by clicking OK.
7.Similarly, assign to the last section of the document the detailing Revision Record Sheet (vertical) Last sheets. GOST 2.503-90 FZ.
Assign names to the document sections Title sheet, Main text and Change sheet by pressing the <F2> key.
8.Add to the document the section for illustrations and edit its parameters.
8.1. Select the section Main Text and click the Section Start
button at the top of the Document Tree. The new section will appear after the selected section.
8.2. In the line of the new section, expand the list of formats and select A3.
8.3. Set the horizontal orientation in the Orientation column.
8.4. Apply a unified formatting to the Text Constructor Document. Subsequent sheets. GOST 2.104-2006.
8.5. Assign to the section the name Illustration.
9.Fill out the cover page and the revision record sheet with random data.
Text input on sheets in which the title block takes up all the sheet is possible only with the enabled display of detailing and is performed in the mode of filling the title block. To enter the mode of filling the title block, double-click the required table. To exit the mode of filling the title block and save the changes you made, press the <Ctrl>+<Enter> key shortcut or click outside the table being edited.
If it is required to create a new sheet in a section with such detailing, fetch the Insert – Page break command, or press the keyboard shortcuts <Ctrl>+<Enter>.
10.Add a fragment into the Illustration section.
10.1. Place the cursor at the first row on an A3 sheet and fetch the Insertion – Fragment... format.
10.2. Select any KOMPAS-Fragment, for example, the file SAMPLE.frw in the \Samples\Drawings subfolder of the main system folder and press the Open button. For more details on insertion of illustrations, see section Illustrations.
11.This completes creation of a document.
Make sure that all sheets are considered on automatic numbering of sheets and auto determination of the total number of sheets, i.e. the first document sheet is the first sheet of the first section, and the last one – the last sheet of the last section.
