Recommendations for generating a drawing BOM |

|
Recommendations of this section refer to a non–associative drawing, i.e. to a drawing that is not linked to the assembly. If the drawing is linked to the assembly, then the BOM will also be linked to it. For the procedure for creating a BOM from an associative drawing, see Recommendations for creating a BOM linked to the assembly |
Drawing
•The drawing should contain data to be transferred to the BOM – property values of the product constituent parts.
•If there are items with the macro-elements, embedded fragments and views properties, then check the following:
•properties of these items are set (at least the Designation and Name properties),
•logging of these items in the BOM is enabled.
•If there are no objects with properties in the drawing, then the properties of the constituent parts should be set by creating BOM items.
•The properties of the drawing should be set (at least the Designation and Name properties).
•In the drawing, positional leaders should be affixed and included in the geometry of BOM items. In the future this will ensure the display of reference numbers in the drawing assigned to the constituent parts after sorting the corresponding BOM items.
The geometry of the BOM items is controlled in the subordinated mode of working with BOM items in the drawing.
If required, the BOM items geometry may include the drawing items representing the relevant constituent parts of the product. Objects with properties are included in the geometry of the corresponding BOM items automatically.
•If drawings of parts and assembly units are developed, their formats can be reflected in the BOM. For this purpose, the drawings should be attached (in the subordinated mode) to the BOM items in the Assembly units and Parts sections.
A BOM is an independent document
After configuring all the required data in the drawing, you can start creating a BOM.
•There are two ways to get the BOM associated with the drawing:
•create a new BOM file and then link the drawing to it;
•call the Create BOM by document command in the drawing — creating a BOM and connecting the current drawing to it will be performed automatically.
As a result of connecting the drawing, the BOM table will reflect the properties of the constituent parts of the product, and the title block of the BOM will reflect the properties of the product.
•If you want the BOM to display the designation of the zones of the drawing in which the positions are located, enable the Calculate zone option in the BOM settings.
•Documentation section cannot be generated automatically, as there is no data for it in the drawing. This section must be created manually and the relevant documents should be attached to its items manually (including the assembly drawing already attached to the BOM).
•Upon saving the created BOM, the Set Ref.Nos. command is launched automatically. The result of this command is the ordering of reference numbers in the BOM, and when the BOM is saved, the reference numbers will be transferred to the drawing attached to it. If there are positional leaders associated with the BOM items in the drawing, then new numbers will be displayed on their landings.
•The final stage of the preparation of the BOM is the setting of the display and parameters. The user can add base and/or auxiliary items, reserved lines, etc. If required, for example, if items or reserved lines have been added, you should repeat the positioning and save the BOM.
BOM in the drawing
Instead of creating a BOM as a separate document, the data for the BOM can be placed in a table in the drawing field.
Please note: According to GOST R 2.106–2019, you can combine the BOM with the assembly drawing provided they are placed on an A4 sheet (exception: by-products and one-off parts – BOMs for these products can be combined with drawings of any format).
To place a BOM on a drawing sheet click Enable display on page in the BOM description management dialog or call the Management – BOM on sheet – Show command.
If the BOM is combined with the assembly drawing, then it should not be included in the Documentation section of the BOM.
