Generating BOM based on data from the document |
Scroll |
For the data for the BOM to be extracted from the document (assembly or drawing) and displayed in the BOM, the document must be connected to this BOM.
The result of such connection is:
•filling the BOM table
The BOM automatically creates base items corresponding to the constituent parts of the product. Property values of the constituent parts are used for creating items. Documents on constituents are automatically connected to items (for example, if an assembly is connected to the BOM, the corresponding model files will be connected to the items in the Details section, and if there are created drawings for the parts, the drawing files will also be connected).
•Filling the BOM title block
The values of the Designation and Name properties from the attached document are transferred to the BOM.
The user can customize the appearance of the BOM created in this way or amend it, for example, add or remove reserved lines, sections, construction objects and base items, etc.
One document can be connected to several BOMs, including different styles. For example, an assembly can be attached to a simple BOM (or group BOM, if the assembly has versions), and to the list of purchased products.
The user can specify which items should be displayed in the BOM of a particular style. For example, the list of purchased products usually does not contain all items, but only those that are standard items. Settings display of items in the BOM of a particular style occurs when editing a document attached to the BOM. You cannot change the set of automatically generated objects directly in the BOM.
Thus, once specified properties of the constituent parts of the product allow automatic generation of several different documents.
