Notes on Working with a Local Part and a Local Blank Part |
Scroll |
We can pinpoint the following specifics of working with a local part or a local blank part that differentiates them from other components.
•The user can control the display of objects in the Design Tree that make up a local part or a local blank part. This is done with the Show composition and Hide composition commands in that part’s context menu. To enable or disable the display of the composition, call the appropriate command. The commands apply only to objects in the Design Tree.
•A local part and a local stock part are not separate files *.m3d, but are stored directly in the current model. Therefore, they can be edited only in the context of the main model. In the context menu of these components there is only the Edit Component in Place command, and no Edit Component in Window command. "In place" editing for a local part or blank part is performed in the same way as for other components (see Editing the Component Geometry "In Place" section), with the only difference: when exiting the editing mode, a request to save the file does not appear.
•A local part and a local stock part are always fully loaded. You cannot change their load mode.
The rest of the work techniques – shift and rotation, overlaying matings, setting properties, access control and others – are available to the same extent as when working with other components.
