A collection is an arbitrary set of objects. The collection, as a rule, combines the objects necessary to perform certain constructives. For example, a collection may contain the faces of the docking surfaces and/or other faces of the surrounding parts, defining the position and configuration of the newly created component.

Collections are used to select objects when creating copies of geometric objects. They allow you to quickly select the necessary objects without specifying them in the Design Tree or in the graphics area.

The collection can include objects of the current model, its components, and the detailing geometry contained in it.

To create a collection, use the Geometry Collection command .

Step-by-step instructions

1.Specify the objects to be included in the collection in the Design Tree or in the model graphic area.

To select the entire object, specify it in the Design Tree. If you need to select not the entire object, but one of its elements (for example, a curve in a sketch, not the entire sketch), specify this element in the graphic area.

Objects of the collection can be selected both before and after calling the command.

You can add all the faces of a solid or surface to the collection by specifying the operation used to create this solid or surface in the Design Tree. For example, when you specify the extrusion operation, all the faces of the extrusion element are added to the list of copied objects.

Using theFilters You can select objects of specific types in the graphic area.

To select objects in the graphic area, you can use a frame (see section Selection by marquee) and special commands for frame selection.

The specified objects are highlighted, and their names appear in the Objects field of the Parameters toolbar.

2.If necessary, specify the name of the created collection in the section Properties.

3.To finish creating the collection, click Create Object .

In the Design Tree, in the section Collections, the icon of the collection and its name will appear. When a collection is selected in the Design Tree, the objects included in it are highlighted in the graphics area.

When creating a collection in the model, no copies of the selected objects are created. The collection includes these objects themselves.

In the future, you can change the collection of objects of the collection and its name. To that end, highlight the collection in the Design Tree and call the Edit command from the Edit menu or the context menu. Actions for editing a collection are similar to actions for creating it.
