Obtaining the license for working with KOMPAS-3D |

To work with the three-dimensional design system, you need access to a license written on the hardware protection key.
In the absence of the license for working with 3D design system, the header of the document tab and the heading of the Parameters display are displayed in red color. In the bottom right-hand corner of the graphic region, a message on the lack of the license and the command to obtain it are displayed. In this case commands for editing 3D objects are not available, and (*.m3d) part files and (*.a3d) assembly files are opened in the demo mode. In this mode only the following actions on a 3D model are available:
•viewing,
•measurements,
•change of the type of display and position in space,
•saving,
•printing.
To obtain a license you use the Obtain license for KOMPAS-3D command.
After running the command the system checks if there are free licenses for working with KOMPAS-3D.
•If there are licenses, one of them is borrowed. At that point, in the Settings menu, the Obtain license for KOMPAS-3D command will be marked with a checkmark. This means that this workplace uses a license for working with KOMPAS-3D. With that, all the 3D model editing commands become available.
If while working the used license becomes unavailable, to restore access to the license you can use Settings — Restore licenses command.
To release a used license, invoke the Get license for KOMPAS-3D command again. The checkmark in the menu will disappear. Another used at another workplace will be able to obtain the released license.
•If you cannot obtain a license, then after running the Obtain a license for commandKOMPAS-3D a message is displayed: "Cannot obtain the license for working with KOMPAS-3D. You can work with 3D models in demo mode only".
The cause of impossibility to obtain a license may be the unavailability of the License Manager (a special software program which determines if there is protection on the H/W protection key which is requested by the user).
License to operate with KOMPAS-3D may also be impossible to obtain due to the following causes:
•the key has no information on the product a license to work which is requested by the user (i.e. there is no license),
•the key has no vacant license (i.e. all the licenses are occupied by other users).
The KOMPAS-3D system can be configured so that obtaining a license occurs automatically during system startup. This configuration is performed in the in the System Management dialog.
