Description of setting

Automatically obtain the license for working with KOMPAS-3D

This option allows to automatically obtain a License to operate the three-dimensional design system when starting KOMPAS-3D.

Changes made to the settings take effect after restarting KOMPAS-3D.

Variant of draw

A list for selection of the variant of document drawing on the screen. The rendering variant is the degree to which KOMPAS-3D utilizes the capabilities of the video card for creating the model image on the screen.

By default the Auto Determination line if selected in the list. This means the variant of draw is determined automatically depending on the potentials of the video card. If necessary, you can manually select one of the following options:

•Enhanced — maximum acceleration of rendering. Use it if your video cads supports OpenGL 4.5 and higher, and has more than 2 GB of video memory.

•Base is the average rendering acceleration. Use it if your video card supports OpenGL from 2.0 to 4.5.

•Compatible — lower rendering acceleration (at the level of KOMPAS-3D version 17 and earlier). Use it if your video card supports OpenGL before 2.0.

•Without app. acceleration — absence of rendering acceleration; moreover, this option is functionally limited: it makes image smoothing impossible, texture display unavailable, reduces the quality of realistic transparency, and cancels some lighting effects of the model.

When setting the draw option manually, it is recommended to select one of options which use hardware acceleration: Enhanced, Base, or Compatible.

The option Without hardware acceleration should be selected only in case if options with hardware acceleration cannot be used or work with troubles in the specific software and hardware configuration. Details...

Quality of Smoothening

A list for selection of the image smoothening level on the screen. It is available, if in the Variant of draw list any row except the Without app. acceleration is selected.

Note that use of smoothening may reduce the rate of draw: the higher the image quality, the higher the load upon the video card.

Display the interface using the GPU

Options controlling hardware acceleration for interface rendering in KOMPAS-3D. Disabling the option increases the stability of KOMPAS-3D on workstations with outdated software-hardware configurations or if there are problems with rendering interface elements (dialogs, windows, etc.).

Control of creation/re-creation of associative views

A group of options for enabling and configuring additional simultaneous processing of associative views.

The additional simultaneous processing does not apply to cuts/sections, views in arrow direction, detail views, and leader elements. They can only be rearranged after rearranging their reference views.

We recommend to enable parallel processing, if the computer has at least 8 GB of memory and multi-core processor.

Otherwise, enabling simultaneous processing can slow down associative views.

Also please mind that the more complex the projected model is, the more RAM is required for working with it. Therefore, occasionally enabling simultaneous processing can have a negative effect even if you have 8 or more GB of RAM. In this case disable the simultaneous processing.

Enable simultaneous processing

The option allows the simultaneous creation and rearranging of several associative views. If the option is disabled, then views are processed one after another.

Reduced priority

This option lowers the priority of the processes for creating and rearranging views. This feature allows to save comfort of work in other applications during processing of views, but at a high system load the speed of creation and rearrangement of views may decrease. The Reduced priority option is available, if parallel processing of views is enabled.

Autosave before processing

This option enables automatic saving of documents before creating or rearranging associative views. Autosave is performed regardless of whether it is enabled by default or not, and only for those documents which were changed from the moment of the last saving or autosave. It is recommended to enable the Autosave before processingoption, since during processing of associative views no autosave is performed.

Load data from the model when working in associative drawings

This option allows loading data from the source model of associative drawing views. In this case, the model itself is loaded in the background.

Loading is performed when you open an associative drawing or when you create an associative view of a model that has not yet been loaded (for example, if you are creating a view of another model in the drawing).
