If at modeling a part or an assembly, you may want to view it from different sides. To rotate the model, you can use:
•the Rotate command,
•keyboard shortcuts,
•mouse.
Model Rotation Using the Rotate Command
To rotate the model in the window, run the View — Rotate
. With this command, you can rotate the model around the center of the bounding box of the entire model or of any of its objects as well as around any model object. To run this command, do the following.
•Rotate around the center of the bounding box.
Left click the model graphic area; the cursor shape will change to an asterisk with two arc-shaped arrows
. Without releasing the button, move the cursor.
•Rotate around a point (vertex, center of a sphere).
Move the cursor to the required object in the graphic area of the model. When the object is highlighted and the cursor shape changes in accordance with the selected object (see Table Cursor icon when selecting different types of objects in the graphical area of the model), click the left mouse button. Then click the left mouse button and, while holding it down, move the cursor (its appearance is the same as when rotating around the center of the bounding box
).
The direction of rotation around the center of the bounding box or around a point depends on the direction of cursor movement (Table Dependence of the model rotation direction on the cursor movement).

•Rotate around a straight line (axis, straight line edge, axis of the conical or cylindrical face, tangent to the curve).
Move the cursor to the required element in the graphic area of the model. When the element is highlighted and the cursor changes in accordance with the selected object, click the left mouse button. A phantom of the axis or tangential to the curve will appear on the screen. Click the left mouse button and hold it down while moving the cursor (shaped as an axis with two arc-shaped arrows
).
•Rotation around the perpendicular to the surface (face, coordinate or auxiliary plane).
Move the cursor to the required point of the surface and click the left mouse button. A phantom of the perpendicular to the surface at the selected point will appear on the screen. Click the left mouse button and hold it down while moving the cursor (shaped as a plane with two arc-shaped arrows
).
•Rotate around the center of the bounding box of an object (an operation, curve, etc.)
Select an object in the Model Design Tree, then move the cursor to the graphic area of the model. Click the left mouse button and hold it down while moving the cursor (shaped as two arc-shaped arrows
).
To exit the rotation command, press <Esc>.
Model Rotation Using the Keyboard
You can use keyboard shortcuts (listed in the table) to rotate a model around the center of the bounding box without running the special command.

The angle of model rotation when pressing the combination <Ctrl> + <arrows> or <Shift> + <arrows> once is called the step of model rotation angle. You can configure its Settings.
To rotate the model, move the mouse with the right button pressed.
If the center of the bounding box of the model appears to be outside the screen (it usually happens when you significantly zoom in the display), a point of the model closest to the cursor is used as the center of rotation.
If the center of the bounding box of the model does not go beyond the screen, rotation occurs around this center. In this case, to rotate the model around the point closest to the cursor, press and hold down the <Ctrl> key.

If you need to rotate the model within the screen plane, hold down the <Alt> key during the rotation. |
