KOMPAS-3D allows you to fix any component inserted into an assembly, or disable its fixation.

Fixing a component makes it impossible to move this component in any way in the coordinate system of the model containing it. It is recommended to fix at least one component of the model so that when overlaying matings, moving components was predictable.

In the Design Tree, a fixed component is marked with .

The following methods of fixing a component are available:

Fixation of a component during its insertion,

fixation using a special command.

A special command is used to disable the fixation. More details on disabling fixation...

When enabling and disabling component fixation, keep in mind the following.

Enabling and disabling fixation is possible only for components located at the first level of the model being edited. For example, when working with an assembly, you can set or cancel fixation of a component directly included in this assembly, but not in any of its subassemblies. When editing a subassembly in-place, you can set or cancel fixation of a component that is included in that subassembly, and you cannot do it for a component that is included in another subassembly or the assembly itself.

Enabling and disabling fixation is not available for components that are instances of an array.

If the component is fixed, then the command for disabling the fixation is available for it, and if it is not fixed, the command for activating the fixation.

If a pair of components involved in a mating is fixed, then this mating is automatically excluded from the calculation. When mating is overlaid on a pair of fixed components, it is created immediately excluded from the calculation.

If only one of the mating components is fixed, the mating is not excluded from the calculation.

When you disable the fixation of the component involved in a mating, the mating automatically excluded from the calculation is included in the calculation again.
A mating automatically excluded from the calculation cannot be included in the calculation manually.
A mating of components excluded from the calculation manually is not included in the calculation automatically.
