Basics of working with layer sets

A layer property group is a set of settings (property values) which extend on layers included in this group.

The values of one and the same property in different layers within a group may also be the same or different. In the first case setting up can be done for the whole group at once, and in the second case you need to configure each layer separately.

If the same layer is included in multiple groups, then for this layer different values of the same property may be set in different groups.

To pass the values of properties from a certain group to layers in the document, you should apply the configuration made for that group. By applying property values set in different groups to layers, you can promptly change the display and ability to edit objects of the graphic document to perform current actions.

More details on configuring properties for a group of layers and applying this configuration...

Adding a layer into the document does not result in automatic addition of this layer into a group. Creation of a layer in a group adds a layer into the document. The created layer is not added to other groups automatically.

Deletion of a layer from a group does not result in deletion of the layer from the document. While deleting a layer from the document, it automatically is deleted all groups which contain it.

By default, during creation of a group the name consisting of the words "Properties group" and the sequence number is assigned to it. This name can be changed. In the Document tree The group of properties for layers is marked with a special icon . Since a layer property group is a set of options, the actual state of layers included into it is not displayed in the group. The Tree shows property values set in this group.

An example of using groups of layer properties

Let for View 1 of floor-by-floor drawing the following groups of properties for layers be created.

View 1 — Office building

Group 1 — Plan at elevation 0.000

Group 1-1 — Architectural concepts

Group 1-2 — Technological equipment

Group 1-3 — Ventilation and aspiration

Group 2 — Plan at elevation 3.300

Group 2-1 — Architectural Solutions

Group 2-2 — Process equipment

Group 2-3 — Ventilation and aspiration

Each group contains all layers of View 1.

Group 1-2 Process equipment intended for work with images of the process equipment located at the elevation 0.000 is configured as follows:

the layers containing architectural structures – background,

layers containing the image of elements of the ventilation and aspiration system, – hidden,

layers containing the process equipment – active, one of them – current,

layers containing objects at the elevation 3.300 – hidden.

After application of Group 1-2, the properties of layers of View 1 will change according to the options of this group:

layers with elements of a ventilation and aspiration system, as well as all the layers with objects at the elevation 3.300 will turn hidden, i.e. will not be visible,

layers with images of architectural structures will become background, i.e. will be visible but unavailable for editing,

layers with images of the process equipment will become active, i.e. available for editing,

one of layers with process equipment will become current – newly created objects will be added into it.

Group 1-1 is configured so that layers containing the images of architectural structures were active, and the remaining layers – hidden if they are not required during work with these structures, or background if they should be visible.

The remaining groups of layer properties are configured in the same way.
