Raster objects are stored in the AutoCAD documents as references to external files. In KOMPAS graphic documents you can also store images directly within the document file.

When setting up import from DXF or DWG, you can select the method of importing the raster objects:

Embed in Document — a raster object will be stored inside the graphic KOMPAS document. These raster objects will always be displayed correctly in the KOMPAS document regardless of the presence of the source file on the disk.

By External Reference – a raster object will be stored in the KOMPAS document as a link to an external file (the source of the insertion). To be displayed correctly, the source file should actually exist at the specified path. Otherwise, when you try to open the KOMPAS document, a dialog box will appear saying that the source file could not be found. In this dialog box, you can choose another source file, remove the reference, or cancel opening the document.

When you transfer a KOMPAS document with a link to the external file to another workplace, please make sure that the recorded path to the external file is valid for the new workplace. Otherwise you should transfer the KOMPAS document together with the source file of the insertion. You can select the method of importing bitmap documents in the table on the Properties page.
