Position on a surface
The name of the surface where the hole is plotted, is displayed in theSurface field in the Main section of the Parameter Panel. The point at which the surface is specified is the base point of the hole.
The position of the hole can be configured in one of the following ways.
•Use the mouse to drag the base point to the required position.
•Specify the base point location using the group of buttons Move in the Location section.
•Connect the base point with a point object. The specified object will be projected onto the surface designated for hole construction.
The controls and the step-by-step instructions for setting the position of the base point of the hole are the same as when plotting a point on the surface.
Hole axis direction
By default the hole axis is perpendicular to the placement surface. You can change the hole axis direction. To do this, expand the section Additional Parameters and set the switch Perpendicular to Surface to the position 0 (off).
There are several ways to change the hole axis direction:
•Sloping and rotating the hole axis relative to the default position.
To slope the hole axis, specify the slope angle in the Slope angle field.
To rotate the hole axis, specify the rotation angle in the Rotation Angle field.
•Specifying the guiding object.
Pick a guiding object in the graphic area or in the Design Tree. The name of the selected object is displayed in the Axis direction field. The guiding object may be an existing straight–line flat object or a revolution surface (except a sphere). A straight–line object sets the direction parallel to itself, a flat object sets is perpendicular to its plane, and a revolution surface – parallel to its axis. More details about straight-line and flat objects...
•Creating a guiding vector.
The hole axis direction will be parallel to the vector direction.
To build a guiding vector, click the Build vector
to the right of the field Axis direction. Vector vector construction. Follow the plotting process and press the Create Object button. The system will return to the hole construction process, the created vector will be automatically selected as a guiding object.
Design direction
If necessary, the direction of hole construction can be reversed by pressing the Change Direction button to the right of the Distance field
in the Hole group on the Parameter Panel.
When creating center holes from the library, where the depth is defined by the sum of specific parameters, the Change Direction
button in the Direction group is used for this purpose.
