Checking of surfaces continuity |
Scroll |
A check of continuity is performed for surfaces to analyze precision and smoothness of faces mating along their joint border. A border of two faces is defined as a joint, if the maximum distance between corresponding point of bordering edges on these faces do not exceed the defined threshold value (Radius of juncture).
If the faces form a juncture, successive checks are performed for this juncture based on the G0 (Juncture Accuracy), G1 (Tangency) and G2 (Smoothness) criteria.
Permissible values are set for the continuity criteria. Depending on which criteria the juncture meets, the following types of continuity can be defined for it:
•G0 — faces are connected along the boundary with a maximum gap which does not exceed the G0 threshold value (Joint Accuracy). If the gap value in the corresponding points along the border exceeds the permissible value, a break is defined for the joint, and no subsequent calculations are performed for this joint,
•G1 — the juncture meets the G0 criterion and the maximum angle between the normal vectors to the faces at corresponding points along the boundary does not exceed the threshold value of the angular deviation set for the G1 (Tangency) criterion.
|
Note that the G1 criterion is also met for junctures where normal vectors to the faces are directed in the opposite directions. In this case, comparison with the threshold value considers the angle between the normal vector of one face and the vector opposite to the normal vector of the other face. |
If the G1 criterion is not met, the maximum angle between the normal vectors is fixed and no subsequent calculations are performed for this juncture.
•G2 — the juncture meets the G0 and G1 criteria and the maximum relative deviation of the curvature of the faces in the direction perpendicular to the boundary edge does not exceed the threshold value set for the G2 (Smoothness) criterion.
The relative deviation of curvature is calculated using the formula |k1/k2-1|*100%, where k1 is the minimum value of the edge curvature at the boundary point, and k2 is the maximum value of the edge curvature at the boundary point.
