The solid selected as the punching tool can be interpreted as a punch or matrix.

To select the tool type, use the toggle switch Punch/Matrix, located in the Tool group on the Parameters panel.

To interpret the solid as a punch, set the switch to the Punch. Solid used as a cutting tool should comply with the following requirements:

The shaping part of the solid used as a cutting tool should be bounded by a closed surface.

The shaping part of the solid should not intersect with other elements of the part.

The line of solid intersection with the base face should be closed and should entirely belong to the base face (recommended for correct design).

To interpret the solid as a matrix, set the switch to the Matrix position. A solid should comply with the following requirements:

The shaping part of the solid used as a cutting tool should have a cavity intersecting the base face. The cavity should have a closed volume in the direction of the die form construction.

The cavity should not intersect with other elements of the sheet part in the direction of the die form construction.

The line of cavity intersection with the base face should be closed and should entirely belong to the base face (recommended for correct design).

If a solid used as a cutting tool is a solid made of parts, then only those parts that meet the listed requirements can participate in the die form construction.

Changes in the instrument type will be reflected in the phantom. If the phantom is not present, the die form cannot be built.

Schemes of building a die depending on the instrument type can be found in the figure. Note that the die form walls are on the free side of the solid used as a cutting tool.

The drawing schemes show die form with filleting of the Edge of the base and edges at the junctions of faces.
