Linear Trimmed Dimension |
Scroll |
For linear dimensions with a break, only automatic fixation is possible. It is produced if the size is created in parametric mode, and when setting up the parametric mode, the options are enabled Create as associative — Dimensions and Fix dimensions. The parametric mode setting is performed for a graphic document in the section Parametrization of the setting dialog box, and for sketch in model — in the section Sketch.
A linear trimmed dimension is fixed if it is set to a segment and to a centerline parallel to it. The dimension value is determined as twice the distance between the segment and the centerline. To make the objects remain parallel after changing the dimension value, the Parallelism constraint is automatically applied to them when the dimension is set (if it was not previously applied manually).
Constraints making the Parallelism constraint redundant could have been applied to the segment and the centerline before setting a dimension, for example, both objects being horizontal. In this case, icons of constraints, including the dimension marquee designating the Fixed Dimension constraint, are displayed in brown color. To fix the error, you can remove a constraint applied to the object before setting the dimension. For instance, in the above case, horizontality of a segment or centerline can be cancelled. You cannot delete the Parallelism constraint as it will make the dimension unworkable.
However, there is no need to fix the above situation. Despite excessive constraints, changing the dimension value will be available and rebuilding objects based on it will be correct.
