Configuring the use of the system's parametric mode KOMPAS-3D for model sketches is performed in the section Sketch of setting dialog box.

To access the section, call the command Setings — Parameters... and in the dialog box that appears, select Current document — Sketch.

Setting description

Enable parametric mode

The option allows you to enable or disable parametric mode in the document. When working in a model, this setting applies to all sketches — both existing and future sketches.

If the option is enabled, the parametric mode is enabled and its configuration options are available.

If the option is disabled, the parametric mode is disabled and its setting options are not available.

Enabling/disabling parametric mode does not change its setting.

Parametric mode can also be switched on/off using the Parametric mode button on the Quick access bar.

Fix dimensions

Enable this option means that associative dimensions will be automatically fixed during creation and linked to a variable (control dimensions). If this option is disabled, associative dimensions are created informational and without variables. More information about control and informative dimensions..

The option is available if the Enable parametric mode option is enabled

Fix auto axis length

Enabling this option means that a fixed length constraint will be imposed on the auto axis —if at least one of its points remains free of constraints - additionally fixed length restriction will be imposed . If the option is disabled, this restriction is not imposed. Learn more about the restrictions automatically imposed on the autosequence

The option is available when the Enable parametric mode option is enabled.

Display constraints

This option allows you to enable and disable the mode of displaying constraints in the document. In a model the option is enabled by default, and in a graphic document it is disabled.

You can also enable/disable the constraints display mode using the Display constraints button on the Quick access bar.

Display degrees of freedom

The option allows you to enable or disable the display of degrees of freedom in the document. By default, the option is disabled.

Enable/disable display of degrees of freedom is also possible using the Display degrees of freedom button on the Quick access bar

Create as associative

The list contains names of object types.

Enable the options next to the names of object types that should be created as associative (linked to other objects) when they are built. If dimension associativity is enabled, associative diametrical, radial and angular dimensions will be applied only to those curves with which associativity can be performed.

Parameterize

contains the names of the types of relations between objects.

Enable the options next to the names of the types of relations between objects that should be automatically parameterized during image input and editing.

All

Option allows you to enable/disable associating of all objects contained in the Create as associative list. A similar option allows you to enable/disable parameterization of all association types contained in the Parameterize list.

The option can be in one of three states:

enabled - all options in the list are enabled,

undefined - the list contains both enabled and disabled options,

disabled - all options in the list are disabled.

If the state of the option is undefined, clicking on the option will disable it, the next click will enable it.

Enabling the parametric mode makes no sense if all options in the Create as associative and Parametrize lists are disabled. In this case, no constraints will be imposed, i.e. the constructions will be performed as if the parametric mode were disabled.

When the settings are complete, click Apply and close the dialog box. To exit the dialog without saving the changes, click Cancel.

The parametric mode setting is stored in the document itself and is not changed when it is transferred to another workplace.
