Selecting the result of component mirroring |
Scroll |
When you select the Mirroring the component
method (see the section Selecting the method of component mirroring), the Result group of buttons becomes available, allowing you to select one of the mirror component options obtained as a result of the operation. The following options are available:
Save mirrored component in file,
Display component in mirrored view.
The selected option is displayed in the corresponding component cell of the Result column. Clicking in this cell allows you to expand the list of operation results and, if necessary, select another option.
|
If you need to select a different result of mirroring a group of similar components, expand the list of options in the row of the group itself. For more details on groups of components... |
|
When mirroring an imported component, only one Display component in mirrored view is available. The result is another insertion of the imported component, only mirrored. |
This option is the default one for all components except standard items.
When this option is selected, the mirrored component is saved in the source file of the original component as a mirrored version of the model, i.e. the added component is a mirrored version of the original component model.
Features:
•If the mirrored version of the original component is already in its file, this version is used when you create a mirrored component. No new mirrored version is created. In this case, the component row in the Parameter Settings dialog is green, and the components included in that component are not displayed.
•If the original component model file is not writable, then the Save mirrored component in file option is selected for this component by default (see below). This is because the resulting mirrored version cannot be saved to source component file. If the mirrored version of the component is already in the file, the default option will be Create mirrored version.
|
Create mirrored version option is not available for standard items and imported components. |
Save mirrored component in file
If this option is selected, the mirrored component is stored in a separate file, i.e. the added component is a standalone model. The full name of the file to which the component is added is displayed in the dialog in the appropriate cell of the File column. The folder for saving component models is selected during configuration (see section Mirroring). You can select another folder to save the component, if needed. To do this, click the cell of the File column. In the dialog that appears on the screen, specify the desired the folder, and the file name for saving, if needed.
The specifics of saving mirrored components in file:
•If the Save mirrored component in file option is selected for a subassembly component, then the components of this subassembly are displayed in the parameter settings dialog. By default, as a result of their mirroring, the Create mirrored version option is selected. You can select the desired mirroring option for each component.
•If the Save mirrored component in file option is selected for a group of subassembly components, it is only assigned to the subassemblies themselves. For the components included, the Create mirrored version option is preserved. You can select another option, if needed.
•If a stock product is saved in a separate file, it also becomes a separate model. Its icon in the Design Tree is replaced with the part/assembly icon. The external variables of the resulting model are assigned the values specified for the standard item when it was inserted into the assembly.
If this option is selected for a standard assembly item, then all its components are displayed in the parameter settings dialog. You can choose the result of the mirroring of each of them:
•Display component in mirrored view (active by default) – the added component will be another insert of the same component, i.e. its source will still be the library model,
•Save mirrored component in file – the component of a standard item will be saved in a separate file, i.e. the source of the added component will be the new model.
•If the file cannot be saved (for example, the folder selected for saving is not available for writing), after pressing the OK button in Mirroring Settings dialog, the dialog appears on the screen, in which you can:
•select a different folder to save the file (Replace... button),
•refuse to create a new model for this component (Skip button) – the added component will be another insertion of the original component but mirrored,
•cancel the operation to create components by mirroring (Cancel button).

The Save mirrored component in file option is unavailable for imported components. |
Display component in mirrored view
This option is the default one for standard items.
When this option is selected, the added component is another insertion of the original component, only in a mirrored form. In fact, this is the same model but inserted as mirrored.
Features:
•If this option is selected for a standard item that does not have symmetry, the line of this item in the parameter settings dialog is pink.
•If the original component, in its turn, contains any components, then when this option is selected, all components included in the original component no longer appear in the dialog.
