Some objects need to be selected and specified not only in the graphic area of the model but also in the Design Tree.

To specify or select an object in the Tree, click its name or icon.

In this way, you can select a sketch, plane, axis, form-generating or structural element (hole, chamfer, element glued by rotation operation, etc.), component, mating.

To quickly move to the end or beginning of the Tree, use the <End> and <Home> keys, respectively.

When you specify or select any object in the Tree, the corresponding part of the model is highlighted or selected in the graphic area of the model.

If the mating is selected in the Tree, then the objects participating in this mating are highlighted in the graphic area.

To select several objects in the Design Tree, specify them while holding down the <Ctrl> key.

To select a group of objects in the Design Tree that are located consecutively, select the first (the last) of these objects, press and hold down the <Shift> key, then select the last (the first) object. All objects of the group will be selected.

After an object is selected by any method in the Design Tree or in the graphics area, its corresponding row in the Design Tree is highlighted. In some cases, the row of the operation that created the object is highlighted. For example, if an edge of a solid is selected in the graphics area, the row of the operation that created that edge changes color.

When you select an object, its row is also highlighted in the object relationship view area at the bottom of the Tree panel.

Some objects are included in components of an assembly model or are grouped into common sections with other objects of the same type - such sections are shown in the Tree if it has the form structural representation.

When a section/component's composition is collapsed, the object's row is not visible in the Tree, even if it is selected in the graphic area.

To see the selected object in the Design Tree, call the command Show in tree from the context menu of the object or from context panel. The tree will expand so that the object's row becomes visible and is selected.

When selecting objects while executing commands, please note the following.

The specified object is highlighted in the Tree not by highlighting the row, but by changing the color of the corresponding icon—it turns red. In some cases, the icon of the operation that created the object changes. For example, when specifying a face, the icon of the operation that created that face changes color, and when specifying a sketch, the icon of the sketch itself changes color.

Each command requires objects of certain types to execute. The selected object is entered into the Parameters Panel field that is active at the time it is selected. If the object type does not match the active field, the object is not selected. However, if the model includes filters, Each command requires objects of certain types to execute. The selected object is entered into the Parameters Panel field that is active at the time it is selected. If the object type does not match the active field, the object is not selected. However, if the model includes primitives, included in one object, for example, all bodies and surfaces of a component; all curves present in the model, etc.

If the object specified in the Tree is an assembly model, then objects matching the filters at all nesting levels are selected, i.e., those built within the assembly itself, components inserted directly into the assembly, components of subassemblies, and so on down to the full depth.

If the active field contains previously selected objects that match the enabled filters and are part of the same object, then specifying this object will select all other objects of that type, and the previously selected objects will be removed from the selection.
