Curve selection |
Scroll |
When performing some operations, you need to specify a curve. For example: to build an equidistant curve, you need to specify its base curve; to build a ruled surface, you need to specify the curves that will act as guides.
In most cases, the line used in an operation can be multi-segment, i.e. to specify it, you can specify several objects that form a chain. These can be objects of different types: an edge, a 3D curve (in the case of a multi-segment curve, a separate segment), a line in a sketch. Further in this section, any of the listed objects will be referred to as a "curve".
When specifying curves during an operation, the following settings for this process are available:
•enable or disable the ability selection of parts, into which the curve is divided by points of intersection or tangency with other curves,
•(only in operation Contour) assignment of the method of curve selection, joint to each other: one by one or simultaneous selection of the entire chain.
The controls for these settings appear on the Quick access toolbar only when curves are selected and only in those operations where these settings are available. For example, immediately after calling the command Element by path button, including selection of parts of curves, is not on the Quick access toolbar, it appears after activating the field Path.
Select curves in parts or in whole
Curves can be selected in the graphic area as a whole or in parts, into which they are divided by the points of their intersection or tangency with other curves.
The method for selecting curves is indicated by the button Select parts of curves
on the Quick access toolbar: if the button is pressed (has a dark background), then the curves are selected in parts, and if not (has a light background), then in full.
By default, the selection of curve parts is disabled. Enabling the selection of curve parts remains in effect until the end of the working session or until disabled by the user.
|
When you hover over a curve, the entire curve is always highlighted. If the selection of parts of curves is enabled, then after clicking the mouse, the part of the curve over which the cursor was located will be highlighted, and if disabled, then the entire curve. |
|
Selecting a part of the curve in context editing mode is possible, if this curve belongs to the edited model or its component. A curve located in an assembly or in another component (i.e. "external" to the edited model) is selected entirely, regardless of the state of the button Select parts of curves. In this case, you can first create a curve in the edited model that repeats the “external” one, using the command Contour or Copy objects. |
Features of using sketch lines
For 3D buildings, existing lines with style in the sketch can be used Normal, segments with style Centerline and axial lines.
Feature of lines with style Normal is that the option has a greater influence on their choice Select sketch curves with account of intersections in setting dialog box:
•If the option is enabled, then if there are intersection/touch points of the main lines with each other in the sketch, these lines will be selected in parts, regardless of the state of the button Select parts of curves
. In this case, you can select the entire main line using the command Picking over. It is available in the context menu of the highlighted curve. Details...
•If the option is disabled, then the sections of the main lines, limited by their intersections/touches with each other, are selected separately only when the button is pressed Select parts of curves
.
The sections of the main sketch lines limited by intersections/touches with other lines (both in the sketch and outside it), as well as sections of other sketch lines, are selected individually only when the button Select parts of curves
is pressed. Option Select sketch curves with account of intersections in the settings dialog does not affect them.
If the curves form a connected curve set, then this curve, i.e. the links of the chain can be selected individually or all at once. The current selection method is displayed on the Quick access toolbar as a button Connected
or Single
. To switch the method of selecting links, you need to click on the icon
next to the button, and then select the second option from the menu that appears.
•If the current selection method — Connected
,then when you specify (in the Tree or in the graphic area) a curve included in a chain, not only this curve itself is selected, but also the other curves of this chain. In other words, all successively connected curves are automatically selected in both directions from the specified one - up to the first vertex that belongs to either three or more curves, or only one. If the button is pressed on the Quick access toolbar Select parts of curves
, then the links of the chain are selected up to the first point of intersection or contact of the link with another curve (if there are such points).
|
The processing of intersections/touches of main lines in a sketch is additionally affected by the option Select sketch curves with account of intersections in setting dialog box . Details... |
•If the current selection method — Single
, then when selecting a curve included in the chain, only this one curve is selected. In this way, it is possible to select not the entire chain, but one or several of its links.
By default, the selection of connected curves is enabled. Enabling the selection of single curves remains in effect until the end of the working session or until the user enables the selection of connected curves.
|
It is recommended to check in advance which method of selecting chain links is current. If unnecessary objects are selected - because the selection of connected curves was enabled - delete them from list on Parameter panel using icon |
Cancel of curve selection
During the operation, the curves (and/or their parts) selected for it are displayed in the list on the Parameter panel, and the line composed of them is shown in the graphic area. You can deselect a curve in two ways:
•By deleting a curve from the list in the Options bar - in this case, only the selected curve itself is deleted.
•By specifying the curve again in the Design tree or in the graphic area. In this case, the curve selection settings described above apply. If necessary, the settings can be changed. In particular, when constructing a contour: if the current method for selecting chain links — Connected
, then if you re-select any curve, all of them will be deselected, i.e. the entire line. To delete curves one by one, switch the selection method to Single
In operations where there is no link selection setting, re-selecting the curve in the Tree or graphic area removes only one segment from the line.
If you deselect a curve that is not an end segment of a line, a break is created in the line. Such a line is not suitable for the operation. You must either restore the continuity of the line by including other curves in it, or completely delete the sections that have become separate.
