Deformation when working with versions and model variants

Basic principles of component deformation

A model version or variant can be inserted into an assembly as a component. Deformation of such a component is performed in the usual way.

If the component is a dependent version or variant, its objects are marked with the icon in the Design tree. This does not prevent their geometry from being changed as part of the component deformation - the objects are displayed on the Parameter panel during the deformation and are available for editing.

If a version/variant is replaced by another version/variant of the same model, the created deformation is applied to this version/variant. If this version/variant does not contain the required objects, an error sign appears on the Deformation object.

When creating versions/variants of an assembly, all Deformation objects in it are transferred to the resulting versions/variants.

Features of working with components in dependent versions and assembly variants

Deformation objects transferred from the source version cannot be edited in dependent versions and variants. However, if a component in the source assembly is not deformed, then when working with a dependent version (variant) of the assembly, you can deform this component, despite the fact that it is marked with the icon . As a result, a Deformation object is created in the dependent version (variant).

If this component is also deformed in the source assembly later, the Deformation object created in this case is transferred to the dependent version (variant). Thus, in the version (variant) there are two Deformation objects, which is unacceptable. The object that was created in the dependent version (variant) becomes erroneous and cannot be edited. A similar situation occurs if the Deformation object was transferred using the command Transfer to versions .

If a component has two Deformation objects, the one located lower in the Model tree has the erroneous status.

You can move the objects so that they swap places. In this case, after rebuilding the erroneous object will cease to be such and will be available for editing, and the object that initially did not have an error will become erroneous.

To fix the error, the component must have only one Deformation object left in the version (variant).

You can:

Keep the Deformation object transferred from the source version.
To do this, delete the Deformation object created in the version (variant).

Keep the Deformation object created in the version (variant).
To do this, unlink the transferred object from the original version and delete it.
