To select an individual sketch object, place the cursor on the object (the object will be highlighted) and click with the mouse.
If a curve with the Normal style intersects or touches another curve with the Normal style in the same sketch, you can select the entire curve or a portion of it that is limited by the intersection/touch. This depends on the state of the Select sketch curves with intersections option in setting dialog box. If this option is enabled, not the entire object is highlighted during the pointing process, but a part of it up to the intersection/touch point - this is the part that will be used in the operation. If this option is disabled, the entire sketch curves are selected.
You can select the whole or part of an object regardless of the state of the Select sketch curves with intersections option using the Select objects command. The command is available in the context menu of the highlighted object. Read more...

To select an area in the sketch, position the cursor inside this area (it will be highlighted) and click using the mouse.

To select the sketch entirely, click the sketch itself in the Design tree. In cases which do not allow using of individual sketch objects (for example, while setting a section in the extrusion operation), to select a sketch, click on any of its objects in the graphic area.

The selected sketch/area/object (or part of it) will be highlighted in the graphic area. The name of the sketch will appear in the corresponding field on the Parameters panel. If an area is selected, the name will be proceeded by the word Region, and if a separate object or its part is selected, the word Curve.

Some operations do not allow to use a full sketch, but you can always use individual sketch objects. For example, while creating Points on curve You can specify a sketch curve, but you cannot select the entire sketch.

While working with an assembly, you can select not only a sketch created directly in the assembly but also a sketch that is part of one of its components.

Notes on selecting a sketch in a component:

To select a sketch, specify it in the Design tree or use a selection frame in the graphic area to enclose all objects of the sketch. You can also select the sketch when a filter is enabled.

If one of the sketch objects is specified in the graphic area, only that object (or part of the object up to the point of intersection or tangency with another object) will be selected.

Selection of the sketch area is not available.
