Grouping of BOM objects. «Twin» items

Scroll

Twin-items are objects of the same section that contain the same data in the column by which the sorting is performed. They can occur as a result of copying objects, inserting identical parts from the Standard parts application into the document, entering the same text part of objects, etc.

By default, such objects are displayed as a single —group —line with the total quantity in the corresponding column.

If sorting in a section is performed on more than one column (this is determined by section settings), then to be considered as «twins», the items must have the same data in each of the columns selected for sorting.

Group composition display

It is possible to enable the display of the composition of a group of BOM objects at any time. To do this, invoke the Expand group command. It is available if a group row is highlighted in BOM.

After calling the Expand group command, the current contents of the BOM table are no longer displayed — only the rows that make up the selected group are shown instead .

Excluding separate objects from a group

The possibility of grouping a BOM object into a group with its «twins» (if any) is determined by the state of the Group option in the settings of this BOM object. By default, this option is enabled for all objects, so the «twins» items appearing in the BOM automatically form groups and are shown in the BOM as a single row.

If necessary, grouping for individual objects can be prohibited. To do this, expand the group containing the desired object(s), select it, and then in the Parameters panel, in the Object settings group, disable the Group option. After minimizing the group, the objects with disabled grouping will be shown (and numbered) in the BOM table as independent, despite the presence of  «twins».

To allow grouping of an object with its  «twins»  again, you must enable the Group option in the settings of this object.

In the settings of the group line, the Group option is enabled and unavailable.

It is possible to simultaneously enable or disable the Group option for all objects of the BOM. Read more...

If an object is passed to the BOM from a connected document, the Group option is present in its settings, but it is impossible to change its state. Enabling/disabling grouping for this object is performed in the document from which it was transferred.

Editing «twin» items

«Twin» items can be edited both together — when the group is collapsed and represented in the BOM table by a single row, and individually - when the group is expanded. Note that the BOM shows either a single group row or the rows that make up the group. It is impossible to display both at the same time.

When a separate object is changed, its parameters are not transferred to other "twin" objects. If an object changes the data in the column by which it is sorted, this object is excluded from the group of «twin» objects

.Editing a group row has the following features:

When changing the contents of the Format, Designation and Name cells, a new value is assigned to each object of the group.

Changing the value in the Quantity cell is reflected only on the group row, the quantities of the group objects do not change. After manually editing a quantity, the corresponding cell in the group row has a red frame — a sign that the value displayed in it is not the sum of the quantities set in the group rows. To return the default (i.e. calculated) quantity, select the group row and use the Calculated value command from the context menu of the Quantity cell.

In the Materials section, quantities are usually accompanied by unit designations. These designations should be entered in the Note column, not in the Quantity column, because if there are letters in at least one cell of the group, automatic summation in the group cell is not performed.

Editing the value in the Note cell is similar to editing the quantity, with the only difference that by default the cell displays the notes of the objects included in the group, separated by a space.

The list of documents connected to the group row is made up of documents connected to the objects of the group. Adding a new document to the group row list means connecting it to all objects in the group, and removing a document from the list means disconnecting it from all objects to which it was connected.

Copying a group row creates a regular BOM object, that is, one that does not represent a group of identical objects. The parameters and text part of the new object are the same as those of the group string.

If you need to copy any of the group objects, expand it and make a copy of the required object.

Deleting a group string deletes the entire group of «twin» items that were represented by it.

If you need to delete one of the group objects, expand it and delete the required object.

Enabling and disabling object grouping

If necessary, it is available to enable or disable the Grouping of objects.

To do this, call the Group all or Ungroup all command from the Management — Grouping menu, respectively.

When working with a BOM document, please note that the Group/Ungroup all commands process only those objects of the BOM that were created manually. Objects passed to the BOM from a connected document are not modified. Enabling/disabling grouping for these objects is performed in the document from which they were transferred.

If as a result of the operation of the Group/Group all command the state of the Group option of at least one specification object has been changed, a message appears on the screen that the document processing has been completed and grouping is enabled (or disabled) for the objects available for editing. If none of the objects has been changed, there is no message.

If the «twin» items have been configured differently (i.e. some of them have the Group option disabled and the rest have it enabled), then calling the Group/Ungroup all command brings the configuration of all objects to one option. Since it is impossible to undo an action when working with the BOM, returning it to the previous state is possible by either closing it without saving or manually adjusting the objects again.
