General parameters (name in the Tree, style, mass units and some others) of the current specification are configured in the Current Document section of setting dialog box.

To access the section, call the command Settings — Parameters... and select Current Document in the dialog box that appears.

Element

Setting description

Name format in the Document tree

A group of controls that allows you to set the list of properties and their order in the document name displayed in the Tree.

Property table

A tabular list of properties whose values are available for display in the object name. By default, the values of the Designation and Name properties are available for display in the name.

If you want to change the set of properties, click the button Change list , located above the table.  A dialog box appears on the screen  where you can add properties (including library properties) to or remove properties from the list.

The order of the properties in the list determines their position in the object name, i.e. the property at the top of the list occupies the leftmost position in the object name, etc. To move rows in the table, use the and buttons above the table. The first column of the table contains options that include the corresponding properties in the object name. The option in the column header allows you to include all listed properties in the object name or exclude all properties from the name. It can be in one of three states:

enabled  — all options in the list are enabled (the name contains the values of all properties present in the list),

undefined  — the list contains both enabled and disabled options (property values with enabled options are shown in the name, and with disabled options are shown in the name — are not shown),

disabled  — all options in the list are disabled (the name does not contain property values from the list).

If the state of an option is undefined, clicking an option will disable it, the next click will enable it.

In the second column of the table you can enter a prefix for each property - an arbitrary sequence of characters that will be added to the object name before the value of the corresponding property.

The third column of the table displays the names of the properties.

If no property values included in the name are set for an object, the name of the document type (e.g. drawing, part, etc.) or the name of the object (e.g. body) is displayed as the name of this object. The same name is shown in the Tree if all options in the Properties list are disabled.

Library

The button allows you to select the required BOM style library file in the standard file selection dialog box. After the library is selected, a dialog box appears on the screen showing the list of styles it contains. The name of the library is displayed in the field next to the button, and the name of the current style is displayed in the field next to the Style button.

Style

The button allows you to select a style from the current style library.

After pressing the button, a dialog box appears on the screen showing the list of styles contained in the current library. Specify the desired style and click the Apply button.

Measurement units

A drop-down list for selecting mass units to be used in the appropriate BOM columns, such as the Mass column of the  plasma BOM or the optional Mass column.

Decimal places

Field for entering the number of decimal places in the mass value. Note that the specified number of decimal places applies only to the display of the mass value. That is, the cell permanently stores the mass value with the accuracy that it was obtained from the model or entered by the user, and displays the value rounded to the specified digit in the cell.

Improved algorithm for calculation of text size

The option enables the use of more accurate calculation of symbol sizes in the current document.

When calculated using the improved algorithm, the symbol size does not depend on the scaling set in the Windows setting and the use of ClearType (the effect of these parameters on texts in KOMPAS documents is most noticeable in Windows, starting from version 10, and is expressed in the fact that the actual symbol height does not correspond to the specified one).

The improved calculation algorithm was added in the express update of KOMPAS-3D 19.0.7. Therefore, the option is available if the current document was created in any of the earlier versions of KOMPAS-3D and this setting has not been applied to it yet.

If the document is created in KOMPAS-3D with Express Update 19.0.7 or later, the option in the dialog box is enabled and it is impossible to disable it. The same state of the option appears after the algorithm is applied to the document. That is, if you enable the option and close the dialog using the Apply and close button, you cannot disable the option the next time the dialog is opened.

As a result of the improved algorithm for calculating character sizes, the dimensions of texts in a document may increase. This may cause inscriptions, particularly technical requirements in a drawing, to overlap neighboring objects. Width/height of tables may change or rows in cells may overlap (this depends on the cell format setting in the table). In a text document, the number of pages may increase.

Therefore, it is recommended to check the texts in the document after applying this setting to it. If it turns out that changing the size of texts is unacceptable and the use of the improved algorithm should be canceled, close the document without saving.

After completing the settings, click Apply and close the dialog box. To exit the dialog box without changing the settings, click Cancel.
