Configuring the name that will be offered by default the first time a file is saved in the Default file name section of the settings dialog box. To access the section, invoke Settings — Parameters... and in the dialog box that appears, select System — Files — Default file name.

The Default file name drop-down list contains various options for forming a file name.

The Document type option allows you to use the name of the type of document being saved as the file name. For example, when saving a drawing, the name «Drawing.cdw» will be suggested, while for an assembly — «Assembly.a3d».

The file name can be the document designation, or its name, or both. To do this, select the necessary option:

•Designation,

•Name,

•Designation+Name,

•Name+Designation.

If you select the option that includes both designation and name, a separator is inserted between these elements. You can select the required separator from the drop-down list or enter it manually in the Separator field.

The designation and name are taken from the document properties.

The value of the required property may not be specified in the document. In this case, the name of the document type is used for names consisting of one part (designation or name). If the name consists of two parts, the second part of the name without separator is used. If none of the name parts is specified, the name of the document type is suggested as the name of the document.

Having completed the settings, click Apply and close button. To exit the dialog box without changing the settings, click Cancel.
