You can specify a template for each type of new KOMPAS documents. To do this, use the Document templates section of the setting dialog box. To access the section, call the Settings — Parameters... command and in the dialog box that appears, select System — Files — Document templates. The section can also be called by pressing the Set document templates... button on the Start page or in the document creation dialog box.

The templates specified in the dialog box will be used when creating documents using the shortcuts located on the Start page and in the dialog box for creating a new document, using commands from the menu of the Start page call button , as well as using the Create Drawing and Create BOM on the document commands.

In the absence of templates (e.g., when the system is first started up KOMPAS-3D) The default settings stored within the system are used.

The section contains a group of fields with names of document types and BOM variants. Each field displays the path to the template file for a certain document type or BOM variant. If the template is not specified, — the caption Template not specified is displayed.

To specify a template, click the link with the name of the document type or specification variant. In the file selection dialog box that appears, specify the required file and click Open. The path to the specified file will be displayed in the field.
To cancel a template, click on the icon. . The previously specified path to the template file will be deleted, and the field will show the message Template not specified.

The Add group BOM template option allows you to set a template for a group specification with the number of versions not exceeding the specified number. If this option is enabled, the BOM (by assembly with up to the specified number of versions) field is available. The template set for this option is used when creating a BOM for an assembly with the number of versions not exceeding the specified number.

In the Use group specification for assemblies with up to a number of versions field, you specify the number of versions — including the basic version of the part — against which you define which template is to be used.

To create a specification for an assembly with more than the specified number of versions, the template set for the BOM (assembly with versions) option is used.

When the settings are complete, click the box Apply and close. To exit the dialog without saving changes, click Cancel.

If the system cannot find the template by the path recorded in the dialog when creating a new document, the message Template not found found appears on the screen.
