You can use the following commands to select objects:

Select body,

Select component,

Component list .

If you need to cancel the selection, click the mouse in the graphics area or press the key <Esc>.

Command «Select body»

If you want to select not the selected object itself, but the body it is part of, use the command Select body.

The command is called from the context menu of the selected object. It is available in the following cases:

In the graphic area, when specifying a body element - faces, vertices, edges.
In a detail, the command is always available. In an assembly, the command is present in the context menu of body elements built directly in this assembly. Component bodies cannot be selected in this way.

In the Design tree, when specifying the operation that forms the body element.

After calling the command, the selected body is highlighted in the graphic area and in the Design tree, which looks like structural representation.

If the Tree object is displayed as design history, then after calling the command, an automatic switch to the structural representation of the Tree occurs.

Command «Select component»

If you want to select not the selected object itself, but the component it is part of, use the command Select component.

The command is called from the context menu of the selected object. It is available in the following cases:

When specifying any component object in the graphic area.

When specifying in the Design tree the operation that generates the component object. You can also specify the component string if you want to select the subassembly that contains the component.

After calling the command, the line of the selected component is highlighted in the Design tree, and all objects included in it are highlighted in the graphic area.

If the specified object belongs to the model as a whole, then the command Select component selects the entire current model. In the Design tree, the root element is selected, and in the graphic area, all objects in the model are selected.

Command «Component list»

Command Component list used to select an assembly component by an object specified in the graphic area.

The command allows you to:

specify nesting the specified object, i.e. view the entire hierarchy, starting from the component that the object directly belongs to, up to the top-level assembly,

select the operation by which the object is built,

select a component of any nesting level, i.e. the component that contains the object, the subassembly that contains this component, the subassembly of the next level, and so on up to the main assembly.

The command invokes with context panel panel object currently selected in the graphics area. Available in files with the extension a3d and t3d.

Procedure

1.Select the required object in the graphic area. This can be a point, line, flat object or component.

To specify a component, enable the appropriate filter or click on the component object while holding down the key combination <Ctrl> + <Shift>.

After specifying an object, a context panel appears next to the cursor.

2.Expand the menu of the Component list button , by clicking on it with the mouse. A multi-level list will appear.

The bottom level of the list displays the operation by which the object was obtained; the next level displays the component that the object is a part of; then the subassembly that contains the component, and so on up to the root element of the Tree. If a component is specified in the graphic area, the bottom level displays the component itself.

When you hover over a list row in the graphic area, the objects that belong to this row are highlighted. For example, for a component row, all objects that are part of this component are highlighted.

3.Select the required component. To do this, click on its line in the list.
All the objects of component in the graphic area and the component line in the Design tree will be selected.

If the selected component is not visible in the Tree, i.e. is located inside a subassembly which composition is collapsed, then to see the component, call the command from its context menu Show in Tree .
