Configuration files contain information about the settings for the KOMPAS-3D system. The configuration settings consist of two groups of settings, so there are also two configuration files:  with the extensions cfg and dsk, see Table. The file name depends on the product version.

KOMPAS-3D configuration files and the settings they contain

Configuration file

Settings stored in the file

*.cfg

System settings, i.e., the settings configured in the System section of the general settings dialog, which is accessed via the Settings  — Parameters command....

Contents of this subsection System — Files — Position is intended for viewing only, so it is not included in the cfg file.

The system settings are described in detail in the section System parameters.

*.dsk

List of open documents and their status.

Immediately after installing the system, there are no configuration files. They are created the first time you change and save the settings. The configuration files are overwritten every time you change the relevant settings.

Configuration files are located:

•in the Windows operating system — in the folder %APPDATA%\Ascon\KOMPAS-3D\[version],

If necessary, you can disable the creation of configuration files.

If no configuration files are available (for example, when the system is started for the first time at KOMPAS-3D), the default settings stored within the system are used.

•You can save the current system configuration to a system settings file (*.pfl). Later, applying this file will allow you to quickly change the current configuration to the one stored in it.

•If you need to restore the default configuration of KOMPAS-3D, run the command Settings — Reset..., In the dialog box that appears, select the option System parameters and click the Reset button.

Please note that only settings that have been changed from their default values are recorded in the cfg file and the system parameter file (*.pfl). Information about unchanged parameters is not recorded.

When reading the cfg file or applying the system parameter file (*.pfl), parameters for which no information is available are assigned default values. The default path to the SYS folder is specified in the description of the Sys key in the ini file.
