Saving the results of an operation for solids and surfaces |
Scroll |
When creating a model composition variant, you can add solid and surface objects to the selection set.
If a solid or surface is created using multiple operations, selecting any of them in the Design Tree selects the entire solid or surface.
You cannot select individual operations, but you can choose not to include the results of one or more of the most recent operations in the body or surface being loaded. This allows you to exclude certain elements of the body or surface without deleting them—for example, to load a body without chamfers or fillets. You can also prevent changes to the geometry of the body/surface if new operations appear in the source model. To do this, use operation-based result locking.
To lock an object, select the desired object or surface in the Objects field. The following buttons will appear to the right of the field:
Fix operation result
When you click the button, the result of the body/surface construction is locked to the last of the operations that formed that body/surface.. This means that when forming the body/surface, the results of all operations that were in the original model at the time of creating the detail option will be taken into account, i.e. the body/surface will be fully loaded.
In this case, the fixation is set so that the operations that will later be added to the original model do not change the body/surface.
Select operation
Clicking the button launches a subprocess to select the operation for which the result will be saved. In this case, saving the result means that when the body or surface is loaded, the result of the selected operation and all operations located above it in the construction tree will be passed. Operations located lower in the tree will be ignored.
In the Select operation subprocess, select the desired operation and confirm your selection. Learn more about working in the Select operation subprocess...
Once the subprocess is complete, the system will return to the detail variant creation process. The button Fix operation result
will be selected automatically.
The body part or surface for which the fixation is set is marked with an icon
. It appears to the left of the name of this body/surface in the Objects in the Parameters panel.
You can further simplify or modify the geometry of a body or surface with a constraint applied using various commands. The constraint does not prevent this. However, if a different operation is selected for the constraint, errors may occur in the variant objects.
When editing the source model of a detail variant, keep the following in mind.
•After restructuring a variant, changes to the objects of the source model are transferred to it, including the operations that define the selected body/surface, as well as new operations that modify the geometry of that body/surface. New operations are added to the list in the Operation Selection subprocess.
Locking by operation restricts the application of the transferred changes—the results of new operations and changes to operations located in the list below the selected one are ignored.
New operations passed to the detail variant are available for selection. If necessary, you can lock one of them.
•If an operation that has been locked is deleted or excluded from the calculation in the source model, the body/surface is loaded in its entirety in the detail view and marked as an error.
To resolve the error, include the operation in the calculation or select a different operation for the constraint.
In the subprocess Select operation the row of the missing operation has a red background.
Operation Selection Subprocess
•When performing some operations on bodies, for example, cutting operation, the original body is deleted and a new body (several bodies) is created instead. For the resulting body, you can fix it only according to the operation that received it (in our example, the cutting operation), and those operations that were performed after it. The previous operations in the Operation Selection subprocess list are not shown because they relate to the source body.
•If conditional thread images are added to the detail option (when creating the option, the option Solids threads is enabled), then it may be necessary to record the result of the operation that produced the thread.
•If the thread was created during the construction of the hole, then fixing is available for the operation of creating the hole.
•If the thread is created by an operation Cosmetic thread
, then it is impossible to fix the result of this operation (such operations are not included in the list of operations for fixing). In the case of creating a thread with fitting the fixation of the fitting operation is available.
