Creating a model composition variant |
Scroll |
A model composition variant is created in the Versions and Variants Tree. A detail variant can be created for any version except a mirror version.
Procedure
1.Set the current version to the one that contains the source objects for the variant you are creating.
2.Call up the Create composition variant
command. The option settings will appear in the Parameters Panel.
3.In the Name field, enter a name for the variant you are creating. The default name is "Variant."
|
•It is recommended that you name variants in such a way that their purpose can be determined from their names. •The names of variants created for the same model version must be unique. •The "Variant" property corresponds to the variant name. You can change the name later by editing the value of this property. You can also rename a variant in the Tree using the Rename command in the context menu or the <F2> key. |
4.In the graphics area or in the Design Tree, select the objects you want to include in the variant.
The names of the selected objects are added to the Objects field in the Parameter Panel.
In the graphics area, the selected objects are displayed in the Preview window. This allows you to see the geometry of the variant being created. If you do not need to view the object in a separate window, disable the display of this window. To do this, set the Preview switch to position 0 (off).
5.For a body/surface created by multiple operations, you can lock the result per operation—that is, limit the set of operations whose results will be taken into account. If this setting is enabled, the following are taken into account when generating the solid/surface: the operation that defines the set, and all operations located above it in the Construction Tree. Operations located below are ignored.
To apply the lock, select the body/surface in the Objects field and click one of the following buttons:
Fix operation result — The set of operations that define a body or surface is limited to the last one performed; that is, for a body or surface, the result of all operations existing at the time the variant is created is taken into account. Any operations created in the source model at a later time will be ignored.
Select operation — The set of operations that define the body/surface is limited to the selected operation. Clicking the button launches the operation selection subprocess. Select the desired operation from the list and complete the subprocess. The system will return to the variant creation process, and the button Fix operation result
will be selected automatically.
The body/surface for which the lock is set is marked with an icon
in the field Objects.

6.If you want to add symbolic thread representations created on the faces of selected bodies to the variant, enable the Body Threads option.
The variant will include threads created by the Cosmetic thread command
, as well as those created when constructing threaded holes.
Each thread, regardless of how it was created, is displayed in the Construction Tree as a separate object subordinate to the corresponding body. If a thread passes through several bodies, it is displayed in the Variant Tree for the first of them.
7.Select the desired method from the CMP Calculation Method list. The following methods are available:
By source version
The mass-centering characteristics of this variant are considered to be those calculated for the base model.
By density
To calculate the mean square error, a density value is specified.
By mass
To calculate the CMP, enter the mass value.
8.Use the controls in the Properties section to configure the color and optical properties of the variant you are creating.
9.Finish creating the variant by clicking the Create Object
button.
Once the team has finished its work, the created breakdown option appears in the Version and Variants Tree. It automatically becomes the current option.
In the detail view, the composition variant has an icon
, and in the build —
.
Objects in a detail variant are linked
to objects in the original version. In the variant, they are locked
. Unlike versions and model variants of representation, this link cannot be removed to edit the objects. However, you can simplify the objects included in the variant. Learn more about editing objects in a composition variant...
