While repositioning components, you can check for collisions with other components. To do this, set the Collision Detection switch to the I (On) position. The corresponding controls will appear on the Parameters Panel; their descriptions are provided in the table.

Description

Movable components only

This option allows you to select the components to be checked for collisions in the command.

•If the option is enabled, only the components selected for movement are checked for collisions.

•If the option is disabled, collisions are checked for all components being moved simultaneously. That is, in addition to the components selected for movement, components linked to them via constraints are also checked (these objects are not displayed in the Components field).

If the components being moved are not involved in constraints, the state of this option is irrelevant.

With all components

This switch allows you to select the components for which you want to check for collisions.

•If the switch is set to position I (on), collisions of all moving components with all other components of the model are monitored.

•If the switch is set to position 0 (off), only collisions with user-specified components are monitored. The list of these components is displayed in the Controlled components field.

Controlled components

This field contains a list of components with which you want to check for collisions with moving components. The field appears on the Parameters Panel if the With All Components switch is set to 0 (off).

To select components, click the field name and specify the desired objects in the Project Tree or in the graphics area. The object names will appear in the field.

Face Highlight

This option controls the highlighting of faces that come into contact during a collision between components.

•If the option is enabled, the faces of the component involved in the collision and the faces of the moving components are highlighted during a collision. The exception is the By matings method, where only the faces of the moving component involved in the constraint are highlighted during a collision (it is highlighted in the Components list).

•If the option is disabled, the edges of the components are not highlighted during a collision.

Face highlighting is automatically turned off after clicking the button Continue moving (see below).

Stopping

This option controls whether moving components stop when they collide with another component.

•If the option is enabled, moving components stop upon collision and cannot be moved further in the same direction.

•If the option is disabled, moving components do not stop upon collision.

Sound alert

This option controls whether an audible alert sounds when components collide.

If the option is enabled, an audible signal sounds when components collide; if disabled, no signal sounds.

Continue moving

The button appears on the Parameters Panel when a collision is detected between moving components and another component, provided that the Stopping option is enabled.

Clicking the button allows you to continue moving the components in the same direction. The movement continues until the next collision is detected.

Only fully loaded components are taken into account during collision analysis. Learn more about load modes...
