Ways to change components |
Scroll |
There are several ways to reposition components. To select the appropriate method, use the Method button group on the Options Bar. The following options are available.
By coordinates — moving and/or rotating components relative to the current assembly coordinate system.
At distance — moving components a specified distance in a specified direction.
At angle — rotating components by a specified angle around a specified axis.
By matings — Moving or rotating a component with a constraint applied to it At distance or At angle, within specified limits, and simulating the component's movement using animation.
Method: By Coordinates
allows you to change the position of a component relative to the current assembly coordinate system using a reference element
or set the parameters that define the component's new position and/or orientation in the Properties Panel.
The reference element appears in the graphics area immediately after the method is specified and aligns with the current coordinate system of the selected component. When the reference element is moved, the component moves with it. The relative position of the reference element and the component remains unchanged.
The Parameter Panel displays controls that allow you to set a new position and/or orientation for the component.
Procedure
1.Set the component's position. To do this, specify the position of the point at which the origin of the component's current coordinate system will coincide using the elements in the Position group. The following methods are available for specifying the point.
•Enter coordinates in the Coordinates field.
•Draw a point. To do this, click the Draw Point
button near the field Coordinates. The point construction process will begin. Select a construction method and specify the necessary parameters. Please note that in this case, the point construction process is used only to determine the component’s position. No new point is created.
2.Set the orientation of the component's coordinate system axes using the elements in the Orientation group. Select an orientation method and specify the corresponding parameters. These steps are similar to those described in the LSK Orientation section.
3.You can select a coordinate system for a component and a model using the controls in the Coordinate Systems group. Learn more...
Method: At distance
allows you to move components a specified distance in the specified direction.
Procedure
1.Specify the direction in which you want to move the components. To do this, select the Guide Object checkbox and specify a guide object.
The following can be used as a guide object:
•A linear object specifies a direction parallel to itself,
•a planar object — sets a direction perpendicular to the plane,
•surface of revolution — sets a direction parallel to its axis.
You can also set the direction using a vector. To do this, click the Build vector button
to the right of the field Guide object. The the vector construction subprocess. Perform the necessary steps to construct the vector, and click the Create Object button. The system will return to the main process, and the created vector will be automatically selected as the guide object.
After specifying the guide object, its name is displayed in the Guide Object field, and a blue arrow appears in the graphics area, indicating the direction of movement.
1.Specify the distance by which you want to move the components. To do this, enter the desired value in the Distance field on the Parameter Panel or in the field on the arrow in the graphics area. The field appears after you click the arrow with the mouse. Negative values are allowed.
You can move components by dragging the arrow with the mouse. The current distance value, measured from the start of the movement, is displayed in the Distance field.
If necessary, you can reverse the direction of movement. To do this, use the Change Direction
button to the right of the Distance field.
At Corner method
allows you to rotate components by a specified angle around a specified axis.
Procedure
1.Specify the axis around which you want to rotate the components. To do this, select the Axis field and specify the desired object.
The following can be used as the axis:
•linear object — the specified object will serve as the axis,
•Surface of revolution — the axis will be the axis of revolution of the surface.
You can construct the axis. To do this, click the Construct Axis
button to the right of the Axis field. The axis construction subprocess will start. Perform the steps required for construction and click the Create Object button. The system will return to the main process, and the created axis will be automatically selected as the axis of rotation.
After specifying the object, its name is displayed in the Axis field, and a green arrow indicating the axis direction and a blue curved arrow indicating the rotation direction appear in the graphics area.
2.Set the angle by which you want to rotate the components. To do this, enter the desired value in the Angle field on the Parameter Panel or in the field on the curved arrow in the graphics area. The field appears after you click the arrow with the mouse. The valid angle range is from -360° to 360°.
You can rotate the components by dragging the arrow in the graphics area with the mouse (a rotation icon should appear when you hover the cursor over the arrow). The current angle value, measured from the start of the rotation, is displayed in the Angle
field.
If necessary, you can reverse the rotation direction. To do this, use the Change Direction button to the right of the Angle field.

The By Constraints
method works by moving or rotating a component involved in a constraint within a specified range of values. This method is applicable only when a At Distance or At Angle constraint is applied to the component. Constraints applied to a component are displayed in the Component constraints list. If the component has no At Distance or At Angle constraints, the list is empty.
If a At Distance constraint is selected in the constraints list, the At Distance field appears on the Parameter Panel, displaying the current value of the distance between the constrained components. If an At Angle constraint is selected, the At Angle field appears.
The Border 1 and Border 2 fields show the start and end values of the range of variation in distance/angle between the associated components.
•If the association was created with a range specified, the values in the Border 1 and Border 2 fields correspond to that range.
•If the constraint was created without specifying a range, the values in the Border 1 and Border 2 fields are equal to the current distance/angle between the constrained components.
Procedure
1.Select the component involved in the At a Distance or At an Angle constraint in the Components field.
2.Select the desired constraint from the Component Constraints list.
3.If necessary, change the start and/or end limits of the range of distance or angle values between components in the Border 1 and Border 2 fields.
4.You can pass a range of distance/angle values to the pairing. The Keep original range option is used for this purpose.
•When this option is enabled, the value range is not transferred to the association. If a range was specified in the association, it remains unchanged. If no range was specified, the association remains without a range.
•When this option is disabled, the value range is transferred to the association. If a range was specified in the association, it is changed to the range specified in the command. If no range was specified, it is set to the values transferred from the command.

5.Enter the distance/angle between the components in the Distance/Angle field.
The specified component will change its position according to the specified parameters. After confirming the change in the component’s position, the angle/distance value between the components and the range of values (depending on the status of the option) will be transferred to the association. Keep original range).
You can change the position of a component using the animation control buttons located on the Options Panel. The table below describes the animation control buttons.
