Notes on editing a face and a copy of a face

Scroll

Please note the following when editing faces.

If the face being edited is planar then its shape will not change when you move the poles of the grid within the plane of this face.

When you edit an face, the shape and the position of its border may change. The shape and the position of the border of the adjacent face may also change. These modifications are possible if the type of the adjacent face remains unchanged.

For example, the face being edited and the adjacent face are planar. If you want to change the shape of the edge located between these faces, you'll need to move the poles of the grid located on this edge. You can move poles in various directions. However, when you do that, the shape of the edge will change in the plane of the faced adjacent to the facet being edited. If the position of the poles makes it impossible to plot an edge in this plane, then the shape of the face reverts back to the initial state. The poles of the grid stay in the current position.

Please note the following when editing a face or its copy.

If the source face contains more than 1000 edges, operation of the Spline form slightly slows down.

If the editing resulted in such a change of the position of the grid poles that the shape of the face/copy of the face cannot be plotted correctly, then the initial shape of the face/copy of the face is restored. The poles of the grid stay in the current position.

Self–intersection is allowed when editing a face/copy of a face.

When you switch from editing a face to editing a copy of this face, the current shape and position of the face are applied to its copy. The same happens when you switch back (from a copy of a face to the initial face), except for the cases when the position of the borders of the copy prevents connecting to the adjacent faces of the part. In this case, the face will keep its initial shape and position.

These special aspects of editing a face/copy of a face apply not only to the initial creation of the spline form but also to its editing.
