Base point of array instance |
Scroll |
Concept of base point of array is used in arrays of following types:
Instance position in space is defined relative to its base point. Base point positions, in their turn, are defined by type and parameters of an array. Thus, in array by concentric grid anchor points of instances coincide with grid nodes, in array by points or by table they coincide with specified points or points loaded from file, and in an array along a curve these base points are located along a curve.
The base point of the base instance of the array by default is the base point of the object being copied (see section Base point of a 3D object). You can change the base point of the base instance by specifying an arbitrary point as a base point. In this case all other array instances will be located so that their position relative to their corresponding base points would be the same as the position of the base instance relative to its own base point.

When copying rotation operation, a solid created by rotation operation or revolution surface, then you may use projection of base point of the object being copied on the rotation axis of object being copied instead of the base point itself. Details... |
