Dictionaries are used during spellcheck. These dictionaries contains words of knowingly correct spelling. When spelling of the text is checked, the words of the text are compared against the words in the dictionaries.

Language dictionaries (*.lex), as well as an empty additional dictionary (*.dic), are included in the delivery set.

The contents of language dictionaries are pre-defined and cannot be changed by means of KOMPAS-3D.

The additional dictionary is intended for adding specialized technical and other special terms, proper names, abbreviations, etc., which are not included into the language dictionary.

The spell checker allows to create additional advanced dictionaries. The additional dictionary may include terms in different languages.

While checking a word close in spelling, a suitable term is automatically sought for by the system in all the dictionaries by the language attribute and is suggested for replacement. If one word has attributes of several languages, for example, various parts of a term, then words in the language of the first symbol are suggested for replacement.

All the work with additional dictionaries is run in the Additional Dictionaries dialog. See the figure below. To invoke it, use the Dictionaries... button in the spelling settings dialog (see section Setting up spellcheck parameters).
