The commands for selection of graphic objects are grouped in the Select menu. The following selection commands are available:

Previous List

By marquee

By Cutting Marquee

By Cutting Broken Line

Closed Broken Line

Layer Objects by Clicking

By properties...

Invert Selection

Select All

Having selected multiple objects with a selection command, you can invoke another selection command and proceed with pointing the objects. The selection from previously marked objects is not undone.

Select previous list

Select – Previous list command is used for selection of objects which were selected the previous time (items of the previous list).

If some objects have already been selected, then items of the previous list will be added to them.

Select by Marquee

Select — By marquee command is used for selecting objects using a rectangular frame.

After invoking the command, point the first and second vertices of the rectangular marquee with the cursor. The items that fully fell into the set marquee will be selected.

If some objects have already been selected, then the items pointed with a marquee will be added to them.

You can set an arbitrary number of marquee per one command call.

Select by Cutting Marquee

Select — By Cutting Marquee command is used to select objects that fully or partially fell into the set rectangular marquee.

After invoking the command, point the first and second vertices of the rectangular marquee with the cursor. The items that fully or partly fell into the set marquee will be selected.

If some objects have already been selected, then the items pointed with an intersecting marquee will be added to them.

You can set an arbitrary number of intersecting marquees per one command call.

Select by Cutting Broken Line

Select — By Cutting Broken Line command is used to select objects by intersecting them with a broken line.

After invoking the command, build a broken line by clicking with the mouse at its vertices. The objects intersected by the segments of the broken line will be highlighted.

If some objects have already been selected, then the items pointed with an intersecting broken line will be added to them.

If you want to start constructing a new broken line, click Draw New button.

Select by Closed Broken Line

“Select – Closed Broken Line” command is used to select objects that fall within the area bounded by the specified closed broken line.

After invoking the command, build a broken line by clicking with the mouse at its vertices. After you specify the third point and subsequent vertices, the broken line forms a closed area filled with a blue color. The objects that fully fell into the area are highlighted.

Segments of a broken line in the process of building can intersect. In this case, the objects that fully fell inside the formed closed areas will be selected.

If some objects have already been selected, then the items pointed with a closed broken line will be added to them.

If you want to start constructing a new broken line, click the Draw New button .

Select Layer Objects by Clicking

Select — Layer objects by Clicking command is used to select all objects in the layer by specifying any one of them.

After invoking the command, place the cursor at any object of the required layer and click with a mouse.

If some objects have already been selected, then the items belonging to the selected layer will be added to them.

Select by properties

Select — By properties... command is used for selecting objects that match the specified conditions. After invoking the command Select objects by propertiesdialog appears on the screen.

In this dialog you can form the conditions for choosing objects for selection, and then select or deselect the chosen objects. You can invert the selection result if needed.

The procedure for working in the dialog is described in section Selecting objects by properties.

Invert Selection

Invert Selection command is used to invert the selection of objects in the document. After its invocation, all the objects that were not selected are selected, and vice versa.

This command works with all document objects, i.e. lying on all the layers in all the views, including those hidden.

You can form a set of selected objects and then invert the selection using Select by propertiescommand.

Select All

Select All command is used to select all objects contained in the current fragment or in the current view of active drawing.

To invoke the command, also press <CTRL>+<A> combination.
