Selecting a contour type |
Scroll |
To specify a contour, buttons of the Type group of the Parameters Panel are used. The following options are available:
Auto Determination of Type (default option) — the type of the contour is automatically determined by the system depending on which objects are specified for constructing the contour. Determination of the type is performed at the moment the operation is completed, and the Auto Determination of Type option switches to the type selected by the system.
Arbitrary contour is a contour that may include various types of objects – 3D curves, segments of multi-segment curves, edges, sketch lines/segments (see section Using sketches in operations), other contours.
Contour on face is a contour consisting of edges of a single face.
Sketch contour – a contour consisting of lines/segments of lines of a single sketch.
Certain operations depend on the contour type. For example, for extrusion, your selection of one or another type of the contour impacts the result of the extrusion operation.
In addition, the possibility to specify objects to build a contour depends on the selected type. For more details on selecting objects...

You can change the contour type during object selection, if needed. Depending on the objects you’ve already specified, the Sketch Contour and Contour on Edge options may be unavailable. You can also change the contour type later when editing the contour already created. For example, if you need to add objects that do not belong to the given sketch to sketch contour, change the contour type to Arbitrary contour and specify the required objects. |
