Methods of passing nonbranching nodes

Scroll

By nonbranching nodes, points of object junctures are understood, where the direction of further movement is only one, i.e. points where no more than two objects are joined.

If you use sketch objects to build a contour, note the following features.

When lines of Main style intersect, these lines are divided into segments that the system perceives as separate objects, and the points of intersection are considered as junction points of these objects.

The intersection of lines with the Axis style does not create segments that can be used as separate objects. Therefore, intersection points of these lines are not considered contact points.

Using sketches in operations

When you plot a contour, there are two methods for traversing non-branching nodes: Automatically and Manually. The desired method is selected using the Method of passing nonbranching nodes.

By default, the toggle switch is set to Automatically position. In this case, when you specify an object included in the contour, not only the object itself is selected, but also the neighboring objects connected by nonbranching nodes, i.e. all objects connected in series to both sides of the specified one are automatically selected.

If automatic selection of the neighboring objects is not required, set the toggle switch to Manually.

For effective usage of automatic processing of nodes when constructing a sketch contour or a contour on face, it is recommended to select the appropriate contour type prior to specifying objects. Then only the lines of one sketch/edge of one face will be taken into account during node processing.

For example, in order to build a contour that includes the edges of one face, set the type Contour on face and specify one of the edges of the required face. All joined edges of this face will be selected. If you leave the contour type as Arbitrary or Auto Determination, then the automatic selection of edges will not occur, because when processing the intersection points of objects, all faces of the solid will be taken into account.
