When designing/modifying a spline curve or broken line two modes of operation are possible — Creation and Edit.

In the Creation mode, the new curve/broken line points are sequentially set.

Edit mode is used to change the curve/broken line configuration. In this mode, the following actions are available:

change the position of points or delete them, create points on existing parts of the curve/broken line.

Modifying the position of points

Adding and deleting points

for spline by vertices and Bezier curve — change the shape of the curve, controlling the length and direction of the tangent vectors/

Changing Spline type by points

Changing Bezier curve shape

for spline by poles — set the Weight of points.

You can edit with the mouse in the graphics area, and also use the point parameters table and the fields of the Parameters Panel. All changes are displayed on the phantom of the curve/broken line.

If you want to change the parameters of a curve at a point, specify this point in the point parameters table or in the graphic area (selection in the table is available in any mode, while selection in the graphic area is only available in editing mode) and make the necessary changes.

After making changes, you can continue specifying points by returning to the Creation mode.

Some parameters of the curve/broken line can be set and changed in any mode of operation, for example, set the style and properties; change the spline degree by the poles, etc.

Toggling modes

By default, the mode Creation is active when a command to create a curve/broken line is called, and the Edit mode is active when editing a previously created curve/broken line.

You can toggle between modes while the command is running. To do this, use the Creation/Edit toggle switch. It is available if at least one point is set for a curve/broken line.

The system switches to editing mode when you activate any cell of the point parameters table.
