Point by coordinates

Scroll

An arbitrary point is plotted using the Point by coordinates command.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Select the type of the point coordinates by clicking the corresponding button in the Coordinate Type group on the Parameter Panel:

Rectangular — coordinates X, Y, Z;

Cylindrical — coordinates R,A,Z;

Spherical — coordinates R, A, B.

2.Specify the point coordinates.

Methods of defining the Point Coordinates...

If you build a point in the rectangular coordinates, it is automatically created after setting the coordinates, and the command is completed.

If you plot a point in the cylindrical or spherical coordinates, complete plotting by clicking the Create object . This button appears after you input the coordinates.

3.Advanced plotting options.

You can select a coordinate system relative to which a point will be located. To do that, use the Coordinate System section. Details...If you need to store the point’s position in the absolute coordinate system of the model after moving to another coordinate system, enable the Save Position option.

You can change the name, color and style of the point display. To do that, use the Properties section.

For rectangular coordinates, you can select the coordinate system and change the properties only before you set the coordinates of a point, and for cylindrical or spherical coordinates – before you click Create Object button.

After completing the construction, a point appears in the graphic area, and its icon appears in the Construction Tree.

4.To complete operation of the command, click Finish .

Tips

If a point has cylindrical or spherical coordinates, you can change its position in the graphic area by moving the defining point (see section Defining Points of Objects).

You can assign tolerances to the values of the operation parameters expressed in linear and angular values. To do this, you should invoke the Tolerance command located in the menu of the required parameter, or click the icon displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if the parameter value is assigned a tolerance).
