Join Curves |
Scroll |
You can join the vertices of two curves (or start and end vertices of the same curve) using a new curve. You can join:
•3D curves;
•edges of solids and surfaces;
•sketch contours.
The Join Curves
command is used to join curves.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Select the curves to be joined in the graphic area or in the Design Tree. The names of the selected objects will appear in the Curve 1 and Curve 2 fields in the main section of the Parameter Panel.
|
To join the ends of the same curve, you should specify it twice in the graphic area – at the first vertex and at the last one. |
A phantom of the new curve joining the vertices of the selected curves will be displayed in the graphic area.
2.You can toggle the connection vertex (starting or end) for each curve using Change Direction
button located to the right of the field Curve 1 (Curve 2). After you press this button, the phantom of the connecting curve will be rebuilt.
3.For each curve, set the mating conditions with a joining curve. To do that, press the corresponding button in the Condition group:
Not specified
By tangent
Perpendicular
Smooth
The mating conditions are designated on the phantom near the vertices of the connecting curve.
4.Set the shape of the connecting curve. To do this, enter the tension value in the Tension1, % (Tension2, %) field on the Parameters Toolbar. The value of tension is set from 0 to 100%.
•The lower is the tension, the lower is the curvature of the connecting curve in the point where it is joined to the source curve.
•The greater the tension value, the greater the curvature of the connecting curve in the joining point: the curve is flatter in its middle part.
Enable the Total tension setting if you want the connecting curve to have equal curvature in the vertices where it is connected to the source curves.
5.You cat set the name, color, and display parameters of joining curve. To do that, use the Properties section.
6.To complete the operation, click Create an object
.
The connecting curve will be displayed in the graphic area; its icon will be displayed in the Design Tree
.
7.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.

The curve joining command is grouped with the curve rounding command. While executing a group command, you can switch to execution of another one using buttons of the Parameter Toolbar header. If you’ve selected curves in the current command, they will stay selected when you switch to another command. |
