Rounding parameter values |

When working with KOMPAS documents you can enable rounding of linear values. This feature is used when performing various graphic and 3D object construction and editing commands.
Enabling and disabling the rounding mode in the current document tab(s) is done using the Rounding
button on the Quick Access Toolbar or the <F7> key.
The default rounding mode (enabled or disabled) for new document tabs is configured in the cursor settings dialog (see section Cursor).
When this mode is enabled, parameter values are rounded to the nearest value which is multiple of the current cursor step. The value is rounded down if the difference between it and the nearest multiple value is less than half the cursor step, and upwards otherwise.
Let’s explore working in the rounding mode in more details using a rectangle construction example. Use the following procedure.
1.Ensure that the rounding mode is disabled.
2.Set the current cursor pitch value to 5 mm.
3.Run the Rectangle
command.
4.Specify the position of the first vertex of the rectangle.
5.Move the cursor and watch the values in the Height and Width fields in the Parameter Panel.
6.You will see that these fields display fractional values with precision to within 0.0001.
7.click Rounding button.
8.Ensure that the Height and Width fields now display integer values which are multiple of 5, i. e. the rectangle dimensions change discretely with the step equal to the cursor pitch.
9.Change the cursor pitch value from 5 to 2.
10.Ensure that the rectangle side dimensions became multiples of 2.

Note that at the moment of snap actuation the rounding mode is temporarily switched off. For example, if you use a snap to specify an end point of a line segment when constructing it, e. g., Nearest Point, the segment length will not be rounded. It will be exactly equal to the distance from the first point to the point the snap was done to. Besides, fixed parameter values are not rounded. For example, when plotting a line segment parallel to the given one, you can enter any value in the Distance field on the Parameter Panel and fix it. When specifying the start and end points of the segment its length will be rounded, and the distance from the base one will not be rounded. |
Rounding values when working with 3D objects is shown when you drag and drop their characteristic points. Note that in parts and assemblies you can round not only linear values but angular ones as well.
