Into a text document or table, you can insert vertically located lines of text.
To insert vertical text, use the Vertical Text
command.
The command is available if the paragraph where the cursor is set is empty or contains the given text. In the latter case creation of a vertical text automatically generates a new empty paragraph where it is placed.
If the paragraph with the cursor contains any object, for example, a figure, a table or a vertical text, then the command is not available.
Each new block of vertical text is inserted into a separate paragraph.
After running the command, a thin marquee confining a fragment of vertical text appears on the screen.
For convenience of work, text is entered horizontally.
Automatic word wrap is not performed, so to hyphenate text to a new line, press <Enter>.
The other methods of input and editing, formatting during creation of vertical text are the same as during work with regular horizontal text.
Once the required text has been typed, exit the mode of vertical text entry by clicking Create object
or pressing <Ctrl>+<Enter>.
The entered text is automatically placed vertically. It can’t be surrounded with horizontal text.
Vertical placement of text is most frequently required when filling some columns in the title blocks of documents.
To editing vertical text, double-click it.
The text will be displayed horizontally in an outline marquee and will become available to editing.
