The contact of two selected objects is set by the Tangency
command.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Specify the first and the second object you want to set as tangent. Such objects can be faces, edges, surfaces. The names of objects will be displayed in the Object 1 and Object 2 fields on the Parameters toolbar.
|
You can select mating objects before invoking a command. |
If the existing matings do not prevent the tangency of the selected objects, then the model will be rebuilt, and after that the specified objects (or their continuations) will become tangent.
For a flat, cylindrical, conical, open toroidal or spherical face, the line or point of tangency may be on the continuation of the face.
2.After specifying a pair of objects, the type of tangency is automatically determined; its name is displayed in the Tangency Type field. The following options are possible:
•Circumference – coinciding circles are located in a common plane (in cases of mating with a torus, a round edge, etc.),
•By generatrix – the generatrices of the mating objects are located on one straight line (in cases of mating with a cylindrical, conical surfaces),
•At point – mating objects have a common point (in cases of mating with a spherical surface and tangency of two cylindrical surfaces).
If there is only one type of tangency for a pair of objects (for example, for a rectilinear edge and a cylindrical surface), it cannot be changed. The Tangency Type is unavailable.
If several types of tangency are possible for a pair of objects (for example, for a conical and a spherical surface), there is the Tangency Type drop-down list on the Parameter Panel. To set the type of tangency, expand the list and select the desired line.
|
In the pair sphere–torus, a special type of tangency is possible – at the points of the external and internal equatorial circles of the torus. This type of tangency is considered to be a tangency to circumference. |
3.If there are several mating options for a pair of objects, select the desired option using the Previous Solution
button or Next Solution
button in the Mating Variant group.
4.To complete creating the mating, click Create object
.
After that, the mating is overlaid on the specified objects, and the corresponding icon
appears in the Design Tree.
5.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.
