Hidden toolbars mode

Scroll

The size of graphic area, you can increase by hiding toolbars in the KOMPAS-3D window. For that, the mode of hiding toolbars is used.In this mode, the following are hidden:

Toolbar Panel of the window and all toolbars,

control panels.

Both fixed and floating bars are hidden.

The graphic area and the following window elements of KOMPAS-3D will remain on the screen:

the Main menu bar with all items on it – items of the Main menu, a search bar, etc.,

the line of headings of document tabs,

Quick Access Toolbar.

Using the hidden toolbars mode in KOMPAS-3D is convenient while working with documents in various windows, as it allows you to hide toolbars in one window while leaving them visible in another. For example, when editing an asset of assembly you can open this assembly for viewing in a separate window and hide all the toolbars to increase the viewing area.

It is also possible to use the mode of hiding toolbars while viewing the geometry of a drawing or assembly which is part of BOM items. In this case, toolbars are hidden in the drawing or model, which increases the viewing area, while all interface elements remain in the BOM, which allows you to see the names of documents attached to the BOM items and view their contents as thumbnails.

Starting and completion of the mode

The panel hiding mode is activated by pressing the Show Panels button located in the KOMPAS-3D main menu bar, or by using the Setup — Panels — Show Panels command from the main menu.

By default, all toolbars are shown on the screen. In so doing, the Toolbars Display button is released, and near the Show toolbars command in the menu a checkmark is displayed.

To hide bars, click Toolbars Display or invoke the Show toolbars command. The checkmark next to the command will disappear, the commands that manage display of the control panels will become unavailable.

To exit the hidden toolbars mode, release the Toolbars Display button or invoke the Show toolbars command again.

When the KOMPAS-3D session has ended, the mode is automatically disabled.

Specialties of using the mode

In the hidden toolbars mode, the options for working with a document are limited. For example, in order to run commands, you can use only the Main menu, the Quick Access Toolbar, and the context bars and menus; since the Parameter Toolbar is missing, you cannot configure certain options for operations, use predefined input, etc.

To set some parameters of the operation, you can use the defining points in the graphic area and the context menu which is started while the operation is running. For example, while building a fillet in the model, the movement of defining point changes the fillet radius, and the context menu allows to select the design method and enable/disable construction along tangent edges. Besides, this menu contains the Copy properties command.

If the commands that call operations are combine into a group, you can switch between them in the context menu.

Enabling the mode only applies to the current window KOMPAS-3D and is not propagated to other windows.

When opening the KOMPAS-3D window (including when moving a document tab to a new window), the panel hiding mode is always disabled — all panels are displayed on the screen.
