Any optical instrument (for example, a human eye or a camera) perceives images of objects that are extended along its axis with some distortion, in other words, in perspective. Sometimes perspective should be taken into account to achieve a realistic image of a three-dimensional model.

In KOMPAS-3D, the display of the model in a perspective projection is provided.

To display a model with account of the perspective, use the Perspective command.

With a perspective projection, everything can be combined Model Display Types.

Setting Parameters of Perspective Projection

The extent of distortion induced by the perspective in the image can be set up using the Perspective projection dialog, which is invoked by the Setup — Parameters — Current part/assembly — Perspective projection command.

The dialog box has only one field Distance in Model Sizes. Its value indicates how many times the distance from the model to the image plane is greater than the maximum size of the model. In other words, such image of the model is displayed on the screen which would be perceived by an optical instrument located at a given distance from the model. The smaller the specified distance, the considerably greater the distortion of the image.

Enter the required distance value and close the dialog box by clicking OK. After that, the perspective projection in the graphic area will be displayed based on the settings made.
