Location of derivative dimensions |
Scroll |
The plane in which the derivative dimension is placed right after creation is called the initial plane. It is detected by the system automatically.
If necessary. it is possible to change the plane of placement of one or several derivative dimensions, as well as undo the changes made and also to place the dimensions in the planes in which they were right after creation. A plane for the placement of a derivative dimension, set manually, is called the base plane.
To move a derivative dimension from its initial plane to another plane, use the Place derivative dimensions
.
Step-by-step instructions
1.In the Design Tree or in the graphic region, specify the derivative dimensions whose position needs to be changed. Names of the selected dimensions will appear in the Derivative dimensions field on the Parameter Panel.
If it is required to select all the derivative dimensions of a model at a time, press the Select all dimensions
to the right of the Derivative dimensions field.

Derivative dimensions can be selected prior to invoking a command. Moreover, you can select a derivative dimension in the Tree or the graphic area and invoke the Place derivative dimension command from its context menu. Then in the field Derivative dimensions this dimension will appear; if necessary, you can select other dimensions. |
2.Set the method for determination of a plane for placement of dimensions using the Automatic Location toggle switch.
•To place the selected dimensions at their initial planes, set the toggle switch to position I (enabled).
•To place the dimensions in a new plane, set the toggle switch to position 0 (disabled). In this case, it will be required to specify the base plane for the placement of dimensions (see below).
3.If placement of derivative dimensions in the base plane is selected, specify the required plane or a flat face. Its name will appear in the Base planefield.
4.If necessary, set the trajectory of moving of the derivative dimension to the base plane. To that end, click in the Path field, then in the graphic region specify the required curve (an edge, a line in the sketch, etc.) or a few curves. The names of selected objects will appear in the Path field.
5.If there are several placement options for a derived dimension in the base plane, select the desired option using the Previous Object
button or the Next Object
button in the Variant of location group.
An example is placement of the derivative dimension of a chamfer, when the base plane crosses the edge on which the chamfer was built and is perpendicular to it.
6.To complete placement of dimensions, press the Create Object
button.
After execution of the described actions, the dimensions which can be placed in the selected plane change their position as per the settings. Their names are deleted from the Derivative dimensions field.
The dimensions which can’t be placed in the specified plane remain in their current planes, and their names – in the Derivative dimensions field. You can set another base plane for them.
7.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.

Connection lines of dimensions are displayed in the graphic region, if in the in the dialog for setting up the dimensions and designations display The option Connecting lines is enabled. For dimensions moved over the trajectory, only the lines showing dimensional objects are displayed, and the projection lines are not displayed. |
