When editing display of a derivative dimension, you can change its dimension text and set new drawing parameters.

To edit a derivative dimension, do one of the following actions.

Double-click the dimension.

Select the dimension in the Design Tree or in the graphic area and run the Edit command from the context menu.

The process of editing a derivative dimension will be started. On the Parameter Panel, controls setting up the display of the dimension will appear. The description of these controls is provided in the table.

When you finish editing the derivative dimension, click the the Create Object button .

Controls for setting the display of a derivative dimension

Control

Description

Object

A field for display of the name of the sketch or operation the dimensions of which are represented as detailing elements (derivative dimensions). Unavailable for manual input.

Parameter

A field for display of the name of the sketch dimension or operation parameter represented as a detailing element (derivative dimension). Unavailable for manual input.

Type

The group of buttons allowing to specify the type of a dimensional line. Is present on the Parameter Panel when editing a radial or diametric dimension.

Types of radial dimension:

Not from Center,

From Center.

Types of diametric dimension:

No Break,

Trimmed.

Leader lines

The group of buttons allowing to specify the method of drawing extension lines. You can find it on the Parameter Panel when editing an angular derivative dimension and an arc dimension.

Methods of drawing extension lines for an angular dimension:

Not from Center,

From Center.

Methods of drawing extension lines for an arc dimension:

Parallel,

From Center.

Text

The field allowing to enter the dimension text and to configure its settings. Setup is performed in the same way as when creating a dimension in a graphic document. Details...

Tolerance

The toggle switch which controls whether a dimension has a tolerance.

If the toggle switch is set to I (enabled), the dimension can have a tolerance; if it is set to 0 (disabled), the dimension has no tolerance.

The order of assigning a tolerance is the same as when creating a dimension in a graphic document. Details...

Additional parameters section

Text Location

The group of buttons allowing to specify the option of dimension text placement. The text location is set in the same way as when creating a dimension in a graphic dimension, with the only difference: the landing cannot be rotated using the <Ctrl> key. Details...

Arrow 1

Arrow 2

Dropdown lists allowing to select types of arrows displayed on the dimensional line. The list of arrows available for selection, as well as the sequence of arrows in the list is determined by the setting of the filter made in the Dimensions — Arrow Filter section in the dialog for setting up the current document.

The list of types of arrows is also available in the context menu of the defining point which determines the position of the dimension text.

When editing a radial or diametric derivative dimension, the Parameter Panel has only one list — Arrow.

Draw leader line 1

These buttons are used to enable/disable display of extension lines for a dimension. They are located to the right of the Arrow 1 and Arrow 2 lists.

When editing a radial derivative dimension, there is only one button on the Parameter Panel.

If the dimension has no extension lines, the buttons will not affect the way it is displayed.

Draw leader line 2

Arrows

This group of buttons can be used to select how arrows are placed relative to extension lines for a dimension:

Auto Locate — the arrows placement option is selected by the system automatically,

From Inside — arrows are placed inside the gap between extension lines,

Outside — arrows are placed outside the gap between extension lines.

Text Location

The group of buttons allowing to select the option of placement of a dimension text relative to the dimensional line:

Parallel, Above Line,

Parallel, in Line Break,

Horizontally, in the line break.

Gap/Length

The toggle switch allowing to create a gap between the extension line and the snap point of the dimension. It is present on the Parameter Panel when editing a linear, radial, or diametric derivative dimension, if drawing of at least one extension line is enabled (see above).

If the toggle switch is set to Gap, the distance between the dimension snap point and the start of the extension line is entered in the Value field; if it is set to Length, the length of the extension line is entered.
