Description

File KOMPAS.ini

File KOMPAS.ini, containing information on the location of configuration files and system folders. The KOMPAS.ini file is used if the location should differ from the default (information about the default location of these files and folders is stored within the system as environment variable values of KOMPAS-3D; environment variables are described in the section). Definition of paths to system files and folders. KOMPAS-3D environment variables). Apart from the provided data, it may contain additional information on the system operation parameters.

System Settings

The *.cfgfile containing information on the system settings – about all the settings made on the System tab of the general setup dialog.

State of Open Documents

The *.dsk file contains a list of open KOMPAS-documents and information about their state.

KOMPAS configuration parameters

The file kompas.kit.config — a user file for the kit data. It contains data on the current contents of the kit KOMPAS-3D. On every change of configuration, for example, on addition of an application or plugging in a library, the kompas.kit.config file is overwritten.

KOMPAS default configuration parameters

The folder containing the files *.kit.config with information about the default contents of the kit KOMPAS-3D. From them, information on the contents of the kit in case the file kompas.kit.configis missing is taken.

Temporary files

The folder for placement of temporary files as well as for automatically saved files while working with files of documents KOMPAS-3D.

Working folder

The folder for placement of KOMPAS-documents.

This folder is suggested by default on first opening or saving a document.

System files

The folder containing service files: files of user menus, a help file for material densities, style libraries, etc.

Add-On files

The folder containing Add-On files. This folder is suggested as default to register Add-Ons in the configuration.

Library Files

A folder containing files of elements libraries. This folder is offered by default first when adding element libraries to the configuration.

Tool Files

A folder containing files of utilities. This folder is offered by default first when adding utilities to the configuration.

Templates

A folder containing files of KOMPAS document templates. Templates from this folder will be suggested upon creation of documents. The same folder is offered by default for placement of newly created templates.

User profiles

A folder containing profile files. On selection of profiles, ones in this folder are suggested. The same folder is offered by default for placement of newly created profiles.

Bend tables

A folder containing files of bend tables. On selection of bend tables, ones in this folder are suggested. The same folder is offered by default when writing a bend table stored in a sheet part into a file.

Thread tables

A folder containing files of thread tables. On selection of a thread table, tables in this folder are suggested.

Templates of multilines

A folder containing files of multilines templates. Templates from this folder will be suggested upon creation of documents. The same folder is offered by default for placement of newly created templates.

Plotter/printer configuration

A folder containing files of print device configurations. When saving configurations, this folder will be suggested by default. When loading configurations, those in the same folder will be suggested.

Image files

The folder containing files with example images which can be used for checking the smoothness of surfaces of parts using the Environment reflectionmethod.

Collection of mathematical expressions

The collection.lawfile containing mathematical expressions which can be used for assignment of values to variables in the Window of variables and setting coordinates of points during creation of a curve following a law. Expressions contained in the file are displayed in the dialog Expression when selecting the group From collection file.

File of unspecified maximum dimensional deviations

The Gen_tol.ttlfil containing the values of maximum deviations of linear and angular dimensions by general tolerances. These values are used in models for the sizes of sketches and parameters of operations to which individual tolerances were not assigned.

Textures

The Textures folder contains raster images that are used in the model to simulate the material texture of an object. The image is overlaid on the faces of the object. The selection and configuration of image parameters is carried out in the process of Graphic display of material.

Relief

The folder Reliefs, containing raster images, which are used in the model to simulate the surface relief of the object. The image is overlaid on the faces of the object. The selection and configuration of image parameters is carried out in the process of Graphic display of material.

Cuts

The folder Cutouts, containing raster images, is used in the model to simulate the perforated surface of an object. The image is overlaid on the faces of the object. The selection and configuration of image parameters is carried out in the process of Graphic display of material.

When the system KOMPAS-3D starts, the search for the ini file is conducted only in the folder with the exe file, so the newly created KOMPAS.ini file is automatically located in this folder. Its placement into another folder is equivalent to a lack of this file.
