You can specify a template for each type of new KOMPAS documents. For this, the Document Templates dialog is used. The dialog is opened using the following methods:

•by Settings — Parameters... — System — Files — Document Templates command,

•with Set document templates... button on the Start page or in the document creation dialog.

The templates specified in this dialog will be used for document creation using the icons on the Start page and in the document creation dialog, using the commands from the starting menu activation button , as well as using the commands Create Drawing and Create BOM by document.

In the absence of templates (for example, upon the first start of the KOMPAS-3D system), default settings stored in the system are used.

The dialog contains a table with KOMPAS document types and a table with BOM variants. The document types table consists of the columns Type and Template, and the BOM variants table consists of the columns BOM Variant and Template.

In column Type, the names of KOMPAS document types are displayed, taking into account their specialization.

In the BOM Variant column, the names of the specification variants are displayed.

In the Template column, the path to the template file for each document type or BOM variant is displayed. If there is no template for some document type or BOM variant, the corresponding row contains the string Template not set.

To specify a template for a document type or a BOM variant, click the document name and then click the Define this as a template... button. In the file selection dialog that appears, choose the required file and press the Open button. The path to the specified file will be displayed in the column Template.

To cancel a template selection for a document type or a BOM variant, click a cell with the document name and then click the By Default button. The previously specified path to the template file will be removed, and the string Template will appear in the column with the text Template not specified.

The option to add a group BOM template for assemblies with up to versions allows you to set a template for a group BOM with a number of versions not exceeding the specified value. The field to the right of the option must contain the number of versions – including the primary version of the product, – which is used to determine the correct template to use.

•When the option is enabled, the list of BOM variants includes a group BOM variant with a number of versions not exceeding the specified value. The template configured for this variant is used to create a BOM from an assembly with a number of versions not higher than the specified value.

To create a BOM from an assembly with a number of versions exceeding the specified value, the template configured for variant By assembly with versions.

•If the option is disabled, the list contains only the variants In general and By assembly with versions. The field to the right of the option doesn't allow to enter the value in this case.

On completion of the set-up, press the OKbutton. Click Cancel to discard all changes and close the dialog box.

When creating a document, if the system is unable to find a template by the stored in this dialog path, the message Template not found.
