Operations with mockup components |
Scroll |
Working with a mockup component In assembly, it is generally similar to working with a regular component. You can move and rotate the mockup component, enable and disable its fixation, overlay matings, etc.
Some actions for mockup components are not available or have their specifics. Detailed information on the limitations of working with mockup components and specifics of performing certain operations is given below.
You can edit the geometry of a mockup only in its source file. For this, use the Edit mockup in window
command. You cannot edit a mockup component "in place".
If necessary, you can edit not only the geometry of the mockup, but also the geometry of the original component. To that end, from the context menu of the mockup component in the model Tree, call the "Edit component" command in the
window and perform the necessary actions in the component file.
The properties of the mockup component are edited in the same way as the properties of a regular component. For more details on editing properties of a component...
When using property values from the source, note that the source of the mockup component properties is the original component model.
Transferring components to a mockup component
You cannot transfer a component to a mockup component by dragging in the Design Tree. Transferring the mockup component itself is performed in the same way as Transferring a component.
Saving a mockup component
A component replaced by a mockup cannot be saved to a new file or made a local part – the Save as... and Embed in Document commands are missing in the context menu.
Array of mockup components
If the original object for building an array is a component replaced with a mockup, then the array instances will be new inserts of the same component replaced with the same mockup.
If the component is replaced with a mockup after the array is already created, then you need to replace the components (array instances) with mockups manually.
Exploding a mockup component
A subassembly replaced with a mockup cannot be exploded even if the mockup is saved in the assembly file (a3d), as the Explode command is missing from the context menu.
